
No. 6 @MizzouGym Claims 195.850-193.950 Win At No. 12 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 6 Missouri gymnastics team earned a 195.850-193.950 win over No. 12 Arkansas in the first road meet of the season Friday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sophomore Morgan Porter (Overland, Missouri) won the all-around, bars and floor titles to lead the Tigers.
The Tigers improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference action with the victory.
Mizzou's score also stands as the second-highest opening road score in program history, only trailing the 196.050 recorded at New Hampshire in 2004.
Porter claimed the all-around title with a total of 39.175 and also earned top honors on floor with a 9.875 and bars with a 9.825. Additionally, sophomore Britney Ward (Ozark, Missouri) won her second vault title in as many weeks after a career-high tying 9.925 on the apparatus.
Missouri opened the meet with a 48.825 on bars, led by Porters 9.825 in the anchor position. Sophomore Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Missouri), who entered the meet ranked third nationally on the event, was second on the squad with a 9.775. Freshman Aspen Tucker (Lehigh Acres, Florida) also tallied a 9.775 for the Tigers.
In the second rotation, Mizzou notched a season-high 49.225, the highest score on any event so far this year. Ward stuck her landing to earn the 9.925, which tied her career-best and was the highest score of the meet overall. Junior Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Georgia) went 9.875, a season-high, and Porter and Tucker added 9.825s.
Floor saw Missouri go 48.875, where Porter again led the way her 9.875. Harris and Tucker each tallied 9.775s and junior Becca Schugel added a 9.750.
The Tigers closed the meet with a 48.925 on beam. Schugel and sophomore Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Alabama) nailed their routines for team-best scores of 9.825 and junior Tia Allbritten scored a 9.800. Additionally, sophomore Allison Bower (Mesa, Arizona) went 9.775 in the leadoff spot.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Jan. 15 when the team takes on host Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri in the State of Missouri Meet at 3 p.m. CT in St. Charles, Mo.
