
No. 6 @MizzouGym Breaks Vault Record in State of Missouri Meet Victory

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 6 Missouri gymnastics team broke the program vault record as the Tigers scored a team total 196.225 to defeat Lindenwood (193.400) and Southeast Missouri (190.650) Sunday afternoon at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The squad tallied a 49.425 on vault in the final rotation to break the old event school record of 49.375 set at the Texas Women's Invite on March 12, 2004.
Sophomore Morgan Porter (Overland, Missouri) earned top honors in the all-around (39.25), vault (9.950) and bars (9.875), while junior Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Georgia) won floor (9.925) and sophomore Britney Ward (Ozark, Missouri) earned the win on floor.
The Tigers tallied the program-record 49.425 to end the meet with a bang. Porter scored a perfect 9.950 on the event to set a new career-high and tie the fourth-best vault score in team history. Harris finished second on the apparatus with a career-high-tying 9.900. Also setting career-bests were freshman Aspen Tucker (Lehigh Acres, Florida) and sophomore Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Missouri), while senior Angie Kern (Columbia, Missouri) posted a season-high 9.850.
Missouri opened the day on bars with a 49.025. Porter led the way with her 9.875, Huber went 9.850 and junior Shauna Miller (Knoxville, Tennessee) notched a 9.800. Additionally, sophomore Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Alabama) and junior Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minnesota) scored 9.750s.
Ward earned a career-high-tying 9.925 on beam in the second rotation, the third time in her career she earned that score. Kelly took second overall in the meet with a 9.825 and Schugel tallied a 9.775.
Four Tigers notched scores of 9.800 or high on floor in the third rotation. Harris claimed a 9.925 to tie her personal best on the event and earn the title. Porter continued her strong day with a 9.850, while Schugel and Tucker both posted scores of 9.800.
Missouri returns to action on Friday, Jan. 20 when the team hosts No. 4 Alabama at 7:30 p.m. CT in the annual Pink Out. The meet will also be televised live on SEC Network.
