
@MizzouTennis Wraps Up Mizzou Invitational

COLUMBIA, MO. - Junior Brianna Lashway (Bradenton, Fla.) finished the weekend undefeated in singles play as Mizzou Tennis picked up three singles wins on the third and final day of the Mizzou Invite. The matches were moved to the Overland Park Racquet Club, in Kansas City, Kan., due to rain.
Lashway's third singles win, and fifth overall victory of the Mizzou Invite, came against the No. 2 singles player from Louisville, Tiffany Huber. Lashway took the match 7-6 (3), 6-3. The opening set was Lashway's fourth set-victory decided by a tiebreaker as she went undefeated in tiebreaker situations throughout the weekend.
Freshman Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) completed an impressive first weekend of collegiate tennis by winning her No. 6 singles matchup on Sunday, 6-4, 6-3. Middlebrooks finished the Mizzou Invite with three victories.
Mizzou wrapped up singles play with another win from senior Cassidy Spearman (Laguna Niguel, Calif.). Spearman defeated the No. 4 singles player from Louisville in a 10-point third-set tiebreak, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (8). Spearman finished the weekend with a pair of No. 4 singles wins and one doubles victory at the No. 1 position.
Mizzou will take the courts again as a team at the ITA Central Regional in Minneapolis, Minn., on Thursday, Oct. 13. Senior Bea Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal) will compete individually at the ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. on Oct. 1.
