COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis goes 1-1 on the day, taking a 4-0 win over Eastern Kentucky before dropping a match to No. 11 Southeastern opponent LSU, 4-0, on Thursday, March 19.
Match One: Eastern Kentucky
To start the day, the Tigers earned a victory over Eastern Kentucky with a decisive shutout win.
The Tigers opened the day strong in doubles action, securing the point. Freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore Korina Roso led the way with a dominant 6-2 victory, while senior Andrea Artimedi and sophomore Gian Octa followed with a 6-4 win to clinch the doubles point for Mizzou. The pairing of freshman Lara Quaglia and sophomore Zoe Lazar trailed 4-4 in their match before it went unfinished after the point was decided.
In singles, Octa continued her strong play with a dominant showing, cruising to a 6-0 win in the opening set and leading 3-1 in the second when her match was clinched due to an EKU injury. Roso earned a decisive straight-set win with identical 6-2 scores in both sets. Her performance added to Mizzou's momentum as the Tigers controlled the match.
Ackman earned a hard-fought singles victory, defeating EKU's Masha Fedenko 7-5, 6-0. Ackman showed resilience in a tight opening set before taking full control in the second to secure the win. Quaglia was in control of her match, leading 6-3, 3-1, before play was halted. Similarly, Lazar held a 6-3, 4-3 advantage in her match before it went unfinished.
Match Two: No. 11 LSU
Mizzou came up short in doubles matches against LSU after the duo of Roso and Ackman fell 6-2, while Quaglia and Lazar were also defeated 6-2, allowing LSU to secure the opening point. Artimedi and Octa were tied 4-4 in their match before it went unfinished.
LSU carried its momentum into singles play, quickly extending its lead with strong performances across multiple courts. Louisiana State secured the first two singles points against Quaglia and Artimedi. Octa was able to split sets and keep the match going.
Roso battled to a 6-2, 6-4 loss, allowing LSU to clinch singles and call the game. Ackman was leading 4-1 when her match was abandoned, while Lazar was leading her second set 3-2 after a 7-5 first set loss.

The Tigers continue SEC play in Oxford, Mississippi, against Ole Miss. The match will take place on Saturday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m.
