***GAME NOTES***
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 18 Mizzou Softball heads north to Iowa City, Iowa, on Tuesday, April 19, for a mid-week doubleheader at Iowa. The Tigers and Hawkeyes will meet for the third consecutive season Tuesday at Pearl Field.
Game one is scheduled for a 3 p.m. (CT) first pitch. Game two is tentatively slated for a 5 p.m. (CT) start. Fans can follow live stats and updates of the matchups online at StatBroadcast.com and on Twitter (@MizzouSoftball).
SERIES SNAPSHOT VS. IOWA
- The Tigers own a 16-8 all-time record against the Hawkeyes.
- In the teams' last meeting (April 22, 2015), Mizzou claimed a 10-2 victory over Iowa in Columbia, Mo., at University Field.
ANOTHER TOP 25 VICTORY FOR MIZZOU
- Mizzou earned its sixth Top 25 victory of the season on Saturday, April 16, at No. 12 Kentucky. The Tigers took advantage of six Wildcats errors while producing nine runs on nine hits.
- Sophomore Amanda Sanchez and freshman Kolby Romaine each hit home runs to key Mizzou's offensive attack. Romaine earned her first career start on Saturday and delivered a 2-for-4 day with a home run and three RBI.
- The Tigers' other Top 25 wins this season included 8-0 over No. 17 Arizona State (March 5), 10-4 over No. 22 Baylor (March 5), 7-3 over No. 6 Alabama (March 26), 5-4 over No. 16 Tennessee (April 2), 7-3 over No. 16 Tennessee (April 3).
CRANE POSTS OUTSTANDING OVERALL WEEK
- Senior Emily Crane continued her All-American caliber senior campaign with an outstanding week (April 11-17). The Troy, Mo., native hit .538 (7-for-13) with nine runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and seven stolen bases.
- She also poured in an incredible 1.385 slugging percentage, .684 on-base percentage and 2.069 OPS.
- In the series opener vs. Wichita State (April 13), Crane smashed a home run and tallied five RBI. The five driven in marked the second time this season with five RBI and is the right fielder's single game career high.
- Crane was also a menace on the basepaths this past week, racking up seven stolen bases and upping her season total to 17. On April 16 at No. 12 Kentucky, Crane posted three stolen bases, marking a new single game career high.
