COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 15 Mizzou Softball will continue its Southeastern Conference portion of the schedule from March 26-28 at No. 6 Alabama. The Tigers are set for a Saturday-Monday three-game series in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Mizzou and the Crimson Tide open play on Saturday, March 26. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT) and the game will broadcast live on SEC Network + via WatchESPN. The two SEC foes compete at 6 p.m. (CT) both on Sunday, March 27, and Monday, March 28. Both games will broadcast live on SEC Network.
No. 6 Alabama marks the fifth Top 25 ranked opponent for Mizzou this season. The Tigers possess a 2-2 record in their four ranked matchups up to this point. Alabama holds an all-time 9-6 series lead against Mizzou. In their last meeting (2014), the Crimson Tide took two-of-three in a three-game series held in Columbia, Mo.
MIZZOU POSTS SEASON-HIGH EIGHT GAME WINNING STREAK
- The Tigers extended their season-high winning streak to eight games as it shutout Northern Iowa (6-0) on Wednesday, March 23.
- Freshman Danielle Baumgartner earned her seventh consecutive win in the circle for Mizzou, matching sophomore Paige Lowary's season-best winning streak. Sophomore Amanda Sanchez led the Tigers' offense with two hits and three RBI.
- Wednesday's effort marked Mizzou's third straight 6-0 shutout victory to open its 2016 home schedule. In the three wins at University Field, the Tigers pitching staff has allowed zero runs in 21.0 innings pitched.
SIX CONSECUTIVE TOP 25 RANKED SEC MATCHUPS AWAIT
- This weekend at No. 6 Alabama will begin a stretch of six consecutive Top 25 series against SEC opponents.
- Following a doubleheader at Saint Louis on March 30, Mizzou returns to Columbia, Mo., for an eight-game home stand. The Tigers will host No. 17 Tennessee from April 1-3 and No. 12 Georgia from April 8-10.
- Mizzou hits the road again from April 15-17 at No. 12 Kentucky, followed by a three-game home series against No. 4 Texas A&M.
- The Tigers close their tough stretch with three games at No. 25 Mississippi State from April 29 – May 1.
