
#15 @MizzouSoftball Splits Saturday Doubleheader at #6 Alabama

Tigers earned their third Top 25 win of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 15 Mizzou Softball (24-5, 3-2 SEC) split its Saturday doubleheader at No. 6 Alabama. The Tigers posted a 7-3 victory in game one and the Crimson Tide answered with a 9-1 run-rule win in game two.
Redshirt senior Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.) put Mizzou on the scoreboard first in game one, posting a first inning RBI double. Sophomore Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, Calif.) pushed another run across the plate following an RBI single.
The Tigers added three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two RBI base hit by junior Natalie Fleming (Silex, Mo.). Alabama answered with one run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning to cut into the Tigers' lead.
A pair of solo home runs by Sanchez and Fleming in the fifth inning gave Mizzou breathing room again. Sophomore Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa) finished strong in the circle, tossing three consecutive scoreless frames to secure the complete game victory. Lowary improved to 13-2 on the season and pushed Mizzou's season-high winning streak to nine games.
The Crimson Tide gained momentum early and often in game two. Alabama tallied two runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning. Senior Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) put Mizzou on the scoreboard in the third inning with her seventh home run of the year. Crane's solo shot marked her 213th career hit, moving her into seventh place in all-time Mizzou Softball career hits.
Alabama added three runs in the fourth and capped off its run-rule victory with a single run in the fifth inning. The Crimson Tide starting pitcher shut down the Tigers' lineup in game two, allowing one run on one hit.
KEY MOMENT (GAME 1)
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage through 2.5 innings of play. Alabama had an answer, scoring three runs across the third and fourth innings. Mizzou tallied big insurance runs in the fifth inning courtesy of a pair of solo home runs.

KEY MOMENT (GAME 2)
Alabama held an early lead through three innings but the Tigers were still within striking distance entering the fourth inning. Following a costly Mizzou error with two outs, Alabama's three-hole hitter produced her second home run of the game.
