Tigers tally eight-plus runs for seventh time this season

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – No. 12 Mizzou Softball bounced back following its first loss of the season Thursday with a convincing 9-1 run-rule victory against Colorado State on Friday evening. The potent Tigers offense scored eight-plus runs for the seventh time already this year.

Sophomore LHP Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa) was outstanding in the circle for Mizzou, earning her fifth victory of the season. Lowary limited Colorado State to three hits and one run while striking out a season-high six batters in 5.0 innings.

Junior UT Chloe Rathburn (Mission Viejo, Calif.) starred at the plate for the Tigers, producing a 3-for-3 night with two runs scored, a triple, home run and four RBI. It marked Rathburn's fifth multi-hit game and fourth multi-RBI game of the year.

Freshman 1B Rylee Pierce (Visalia, Calif.) and redshirt senior SS Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.) also tallied home runs for Mizzou, hitting their fourth and third home runs of the season, respectively.

Fagan, Rathburn, senior RF Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) and freshman LF Regan Nash (Camden Point, Mo.) each finished with multi-hit efforts at the plate. Nash is now tied for the team-lead in multi-hit games this season (six) with sophomore 3B Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, Calif.).

KEY MOMENT

Mizzou tallied crooked numbers in the second (two runs), third (four runs) and fourth (three runs) innings to jump ahead 9-0. Lowary allowed her first run of the game in the fifth inning but recorded her sixth and final strikeout to secure the run-rule win.
