MIZZOU OPENS HOME SCHEDULE WITH TOP-10 DUAL AT JESSE AUDITORIUM
- Mizzou Wrestling will open its 2016-17 home schedule with a top-10 matchup at Jesse Auditorium against No. 6 Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, Nov. 20. FloWrestling will provide an online broadcast of the event.
- Mizzou will wrestle on the stage inside Jesse Auditorum for the third time in four years. Last year, Mizzou needed a technical fall in the final match to seal a comeback over Cornell, 18-17, on Jan. 10, 2016. Senior 197-pounder J'den Cox bumped up to heavyweight to get the technical fall Mizzou needed to win, defeating Jeramy Sweany, 24-9. Mizzou also defeated Ohio, 23-10, on Dec. 6, 2013 in Jesse Hall.
- Mizzou returns all four of its NCAA All-Americans from last year's squad who finished the NCAA Championships in sixth-place. Coxcaptured his second NCAA Title last season following a win over top-seeded Morgan McIntosh (Penn State) inside Madison Square Garden. Cox, one of two wrestlers in program history to win two NCAA Titles, seeks to become the program's first three-time National Champion this year. Also returning from the podium in New York is redshirt senior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes, who finished third, redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Daniel Lewis, who finished fourth, and redshirt junior 184-pounder Willie Miklus, who finished sixth.
- Nine returning All-Americans will wrestle on Sunday, as Virginia Tech brings five wrestlers who stood on the podium in New York City to Columbia. Solomon Chishko finished sixth at 133 pounds, David McFadden placed sixth at 165 pounds, Zach Epperly finished third at 174 pounds, Jared Haught finished sixth at 197 pounds and Ty Walz placed fourth at heavyweight.
EIERMAN TO MAKE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED DEBUT
- Mizzou's other Jaydin, redshirt freshman 133-pounder Jaydin Eierman is set to make his highly anticipated debut in the Black & Gold against Virginia Tech. Eierman won four state titles at Columbia's Father Tolton High School, finishing a perfect 158-0 in prep competition.
- Last season, as an unattached wrestler, Eierman went 22-2, claimed three open titles, and recorded eight falls, six technical falls and six major decisions.

- Redshirt senior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes recorded his 100th career victory in Mizzou's season-opening dual against Old Dominion. Mayes defeated Michael Hayes by way of a 9-4 decision to reach the century milestone.
- Mayes becomes the 25th member of Mizzou's exclusive 100-win club and first to reach the mark since senior 197-pounder J'den Cox reached the mark last season in a 16-7 major decision win over Aaron Studebaker (Nebraska) on Feb. 21, 2016.
- Mayes currently owns a record of 100-21 and is ranked tied for fifth in program history in career major decisions with 25 and seventh in winning percentage for wrestlers with over 100 wins with a winning percentage of .826
