COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Sophomore LaQuisha Jackson continued re-writing the record boards in the sprints events on Saturday (May 2), taking down her third Mizzou school record during the Tom Botts Invitational after clocking through in 23.52 for the 200m dash. Jackson entered this, her second season in the black and gold, with two records already under her belt after topping the indoor record boards in both the 60m and 200m dashes.
Five of her fellow-Tigers came out of Saturday's competition with record book marks, including seniors Jill Rushin and Macauley Garton, who both improved upon their PR's to not only mark in with the second-best shot put and javelin marks in Mizzou history, respectively, but also land in the top ten in the current NCAA rankings in their respective events.
All in all, the Tigers departed Audrey J. Walton Stadium on Saturday with 16 PR's, 19 event wins, and eight new All-Time Top Ten performances. Add these to the results from Friday evening's events, and the weekend saw a total of two Mizzou school records, 32 PR's, 25 event wins, and ten All-Time Top Ten performances.
The second Mizzou school record performance came out of Friday's competition, with senior Kearsten Peoples besting her own top mark in the record books with a toss of 66.17m (217-1). Peoples now sits at No. 5 in the NCAA rankings for the event and leads the SEC.
Thus ends the regular season competition for Mizzou Track & Field, as they now look ahead to the SEC Championships in Starkville, Miss., in two weeks. From there, the team will move into the NCAA Championships West Preliminary Round, where the 48 top-ranked individuals in each event for the west region will battle out for qualification into the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Rushin entered the weekend already well-ranked in both the west region and NCAA, sitting comfortably at No. 2 in the region and No. 4 in the NCAA with her PR-tying performance of 17.62m (57-9.75) from earlier this season. With this new best, measuring in at 17.72m (58-1.25), Rushin moves into the No. 3 position on the national rankings.
Fellow-senior Macauley Garton will also move up in the national rankings after his PR toss of 73.91m (242-6) in the javelin. Now taking over the No. 2 position on the Mizzou All-Time Top Ten list, Garton will also move into eighth in the current NCAA rankings, fourth in the West Region.
Joining Garton on the runway was freshman Alex Pascal, who also saw a PR day with his toss of 68.65m (225-2), good for the No. 5 spot in the Mizzou record books.
Moving into the triple jump, freshman John Warren claimed his first win of the outdoor season, marking in with a new PR and No. 5 All-Time performance of 15.75m (51-8.25).
On the track, junior Ayo Adewole continued dropping her time in the 400m dash, hitting her second consecutive PR of the season with a 54.08 finish to move into the No. 4 spot on the All-Time Top Ten.
Junior Alyssa Felton also broke in the top five of the Mizzou All-Time list, timing through in the 100m hurdles with a big PR of 13.76, the fifth-fastest crossing in Mizzou history for the event.
Sophomore LaQuisha Jackson was the last up for the individual events, returning after winning the 100m dash with a new PR and No. 4 time in Mizzou history (11.63) to claim another win, this time by nearly a half-second, in the 200m dash. Jackson's 23.52 crossing put her 0.01-seconds under the previous record, held by Natasha Kaiser-Brown. This was Jackson's second time topping a record held by Kaiser-Brown, with the first being the indoor 200m dash.

Saturday also served as the Tigers' Senior Night, celebrating the careers of the 17 members of this incredible 2015 class.
