COLUMBIA, Mo. The Mizzou gymnastics team officially opens the 2015 season on Friday, Jan. 9 as the team hosts the Kent State Golden Flashes and the Towson Tigers at 6:30 p.m. at the Hearnes Center.

The Mizzou gymnastics team officially opens the 2015 season on Friday, Jan. 9 as the squad welcome Kent State Golden and Towson to the Hearnes Center for a 6:30 p.m. meet.
2015 marks the 35th season of the Mizzou gymnastics program, with the Tigers boasting an all-time regular season record of 371-301-1.
Head Coach Shannon Welker enters his second season at the helm of the Tiger program. Welker led Missouri to a 6-7 regular season mark a year ago and an RQS of 194.770.
The 2015 roster features nine returners from last year's squad and six newcomers.
Mizzou owns a 3-0 all-time regular season record over Kent State. The last meeting meeting between the squads was on March 7, 2009 at Eastern Michigan, where the Tigers outscored the Golden Flashes 195.700-195.450.
The all-time series between Missouri and Towson is tied at 2-2. The two teams last met in 2005 at the Cat Classic, where Mizzou won the event with 195.250 points and Towson took third with 192.650.
The Tigers hosted their annual Black and Gold exhibition on Dec. 13. Competing as one team, Mizzou earned a score of 194.400 points, with scores of 48.950 on vault, 48.675 on bars, 48.675 on beam and 48.100 on floor.
The Mizzou gymnastics team will have five televised meets in 2014, including a live home meet against Auburn on Feb. 20. Four meets will be televised on the SEC Network, while another will be aired on ESPN2.
The 2015 slate features six home meets and five road meets, with matchups against all seven other Southeastern Conference foes and non-conference clashes with Kent State, Lindenwood, North Carolina State, SEMO and Towson.
The March 6 home meet against Alabama will make history for the program, as the Tigers will compete at Mizzou Arena for the first time in the facility's 10-year history.
