Postgame Quotes
Mizzou Head Coach Robin Pingeton
Opening Statement...
Thanks for coming out. I appreciate it on this cold winter night. I'm Just really proud of our girls. You know, three games in five days is a little tough; I think all coaches always worry about that last game before Christmas break and on top of that we have a couple of girls who are a little bit under the weather. So for them to play with the kind of toughness that they did and finish this strong before they headed home, I'm really proud of them. It's a good win for us."
On being just a second half team...
"I can't speak for (the players), but absolutely not. You look at some stats like that, but gosh, take a look at our Missouri St. game. That one was up and down and I think we had a lot of points in the first half; both teams did. I think for different reasons, different match-ups, whether the ball is falling for us or not. I think we are a 40 minute team from start to finish. Regardless of that scoreboard, up 20, down 20, up 30, or down 30, it doesn't matter. We are going to play hard and we are going to play one way for 40 minutes."
On playing a close game midway through the second half...
"I was really proud of their effort tonight. To be challenged in those situations is absolutely a very good thing for us. It can't hurt obviously, had a couple tough losses, had some other games early on, first half, early second half that we were certainly challenged, but this was a little bit later in the game and just to see the poise that I think these girls came to our huddles with, the toughness, they were unwavering, they were playing to win and continued to play really good team ball. Tonight again we had 18 assists. I didn't feel like anyone felt like they had to take the game over or put it on their shoulders and that is a really good sign for a young team. We are hoping that we are going to have a lot of these games ahead of us, so I think this is great game experience."
Oh her career night...
"Definitely really nice to go out on a high note; go home for Christmas with this. We really had to focus in on everything coach was saying and our game plan. I'm glad we all came out ready and had a good game."
On playing a close game through midway through the second half...
"I think it is good for us as a team. I think though, mentally while I'm thinking like that, just kind of keep it the same mindset in other games; you just need to keep doing one play at a time, doing what you need to do the right way every play."
On how Sydney Crafton fits into the rotation...
"I mean Syd, she just does whatever is best for the team and you can see that with her stats tonight. Some nights she can have 20 points and it's because they can't stop her and then other nights, I don't think that team could stop her tonight, but there were a lot of people open because they were dropping in and helping on her and she sees that kind - she's just athletic. She just wants to do whatever is best for the team."
