COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri Gymnastics associate head coach John Figueroa is set to participate in the second annual Great American Burger Challenge. The competition is run by Stadium Grill, and it allows local celebrities to rally support for their favorite charities.
Figueroa is competing for Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Breast Cancer Awareness with his signature burger, the Figgy Supreme. The Figgy Supreme, served on a Hawaiian bun, is a burger topped with pepper jack cheese, chipotle black bean salsa and guacamole.
Each challenger's burger will be featured for one week on the Stadium Grill menu to allow fans to choose their favorite, and 50 cents from each burger sold will go to the celebrity's featured cause. The winning burger will be placed on Stadium Grill's menu for one year, and 50 cents from each burger sold will be donated to the winning celebrity's chosen organization. As the cause is close to his heart, Figueroa is hoping to raise as much funding as he can to support breast cancer awareness. The competition runs from Sept. 9 to Oct. 20.
