
Hollins Hits Game-Winner to Give Mizzou 74-73 Win

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Junior guard Alyssa Hollins hit a game-winning jumper with two seconds left in the game to give the Missouri women's basketball team a 74-73 win over Robert Morris in the FAU Thanksgiving Classic on Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla.
Down 73-72 with six seconds on the clock, the Tigers inbounded the ball to Hollins, who dribbled around a screen a sunk the winning basket. Robert Morris was not able to get a shot off before the buzzer sounded, giving Mizzou (3-2) the victory.
Sophomore Jessra Johnson led Missouri with a career high 24 points, including 17 in the second half while Hollins added 22 points and six steals. Freshman Jasmyn Otote had a career high nine points, sophomore Marissa Scott pulled down a personal high 11 rebounds and classmate RaeShara Brown dished out six assists, also a career best.
Entering the second half with the Colonials ahead, 38-36, both teams stayed close throughout. The Tigers went up by seven on three different occasions in the second half, the last on a three from Hollins with 2:58 left in the game.
Robert Morris went on an 8-0 run, helped turnovers on three consecutive Tiger possessions, and claimed a 73-72 advantage on a jumper with 15 seconds left in the contest. The Tigers then found Hollins for the game-winner as the clock wound down.
After Jones made the first basket of the game 56 seconds into the contest, Robert Morris gained control of the contest to build a six-point advantage, 17-11, with 11:23 remaining in the first frame. The Tigers played their way back into the game on five points from sophomore Jessra Johnson and two 3-pointers from freshman Jasymn Otote and another from sophomore Amanda Hanneman, to give Missouri a 22-20 lead, its first since the squad was up 2-0.
Mizzou gained a five-point advantage, 27-22, after Otote stole the ball and found Hollins for a breakaway layup. Robert Morris hit a jumper on the ensuing possession by sophomore Marissa Scott nailed a trey to put the Tigers on top 30-24.
Robert Morris cut into Mizzou's lead and eventually made two free throws with 10.6 seconds left in the half to take a 38-36 lead into the break.
Sade Logan led the Colonials with a game high 34 points.
Mizzou then returns home for a six-game homestand, kicked off with Arkansas on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers then face Texas State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.
