
Gymnastics Ranked 18th In Preseason Poll

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri women's gymnastics team is ranked No. 18 in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Friday. Mizzou kicks off the 2007 campaign with the annual Black and Gold meet on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hearnes Center.
Two-time defending national champion Georgia earned the poll's top spot with 28 first place votes while Utah, Florida, Alabama and UCLA round out the top five.
The Tigers look to build upon last season's No. 14 final ranking and third-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional with a school-record 195.325 at the event. Six freshmen join 10 returning letterwinners, including 2006 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Adrianne Perry, in Missouri's quest to make the 2007 NCAA Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. Missouri faces six programs ranked in the Top 25 this season, including Big 12 Conference rivals No. 7 Nebraska, No. 10 Oklahoma and No. 13 Iowa State. In addition, the Tigers will meet non-conference foes No. 6 Michigan, No. 15 Arkansas and No. 20 Auburn.
Mizzou opens the 2007 regular season on Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Cancun Classic against No. 13 Iowa State, No. 20 Auburn and BYU in Cancun Mexico.
