MISSOURI HEAD COACH Cindy Stein
on a victory over Iowa:
"I'm very pleased with the way our team played. I'm very proud of them, because you're always worried about how they're going to play after a long break. I felt our team came out ready to play, and we had such great play from everyone - our starters and off the bench."
on using 11 players off the bench in the first half:
"We've been trying to use different combinations of kids in practice, so they're more comfortable with one another. It's more something that resulted from good practices, and we feel better about kids coming in and contributing."
on holding Iowa's Kristi Faulkner to 1-12 shooting from the field:
"We felt that we needed to limit the touches of their big three (Faulkner, Jennie Lillis and Jamie Cavey). I would say Tracy Lozier had a big hand in that, but a lot of kids did because we had to switch out on her on a lot of things and I felt like everybody challenged each one of her shots and was really proud of (Lozier's) effort.
On fast break opportunities:
"I think it's fun for the crowd. I think we have a lot of players that run the floor well and I think that's exciting when they convert like that."
On Senior Guard MyEsha Perkins' play:
"MyEsha can do that and I think you'll notice that MyEsha's minutes will continue to increase because she provides a lot of things for us and she plays with a lot of energy on offense and she's a tremendous rebounder as well, and the more we can have her playing well will help us all."
On keeping Iowa in the game with a small two-digit lead:
"I think we're too complacent at times when we get the lead, and we start to play a little more comfortable and I think we had to be reminded of that in the second half. At the same time, I was glad to see we knew how to execute and hand we handled the ball pretty well today. We did the little things that we needed to do in the game especially when they creep in there."
On Iowa junior center Jamie Cavey:
"That kid's tough and she's a handful. You can tell in the second half that they were going to give it to her no matter what. I really felt like our post played really well tonight. We have good depth there and good athleticism to challenge each shot.
Sophomore Guard LaToya Bond:
On her game play:
"I just came out and try to be aggressive, more aggressive than I have been in the past. When we play good defense, our defense can become our best offense because we can run the floor and make great plays."
