COLUMBIA, Mo. - Brooke Armistead led four Austin Peay players in double figures, and the Lady Govs held Missouri to 28 percent shooting from the field to defeat Missouri, 66-53, and win the championship game of the 25th annual Unilever Tiger Classic, held Saturday night at the Hearnes Center. Armistead scored 17 points and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Also in double figures for Austin Peay (4-1) were Paige Smith with 15 points, Gerlonda Hardin with 12 and Cassandra Peak with 11. Both Smith and Hardin were named to the all-tournament team along with Missouri junior forward Evan Unrau (Fort Collins, Colo. / Rocky Mountain HS), who had 15 points and 13 rebounds - including 11 on the offensive end.

"It was a very frustrating game," Head Coach Cindy Stein said. "I believe in our team. I believe we're a lot better than this. As a coaching staff, we have to work hard and find better ways to score. I think we played not to lose instead of playing to win, and we have to get a handle on that."

Austin Peay took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Smith with 11 minutes, 13 seconds to play in the first half to go up 10-8. APSU used a 14-6 run over an 8:06 stretch in the second half to pull away.

Austin Peay hit 28 free throws to Missouri's eight, including an 11-for-12 effort from Armistead. Mizzou stormed out to an 8-2 lead in the first five minutes, but Austin Peay went into halftime with a 23-18 lead thanks to an eight-point effort from Armistead.

Kerensa Barr added seven points and six rebounds for the Tigers, who return to action this Wednesday, Dec. 11, when Mizzou travels to face Northern Iowa.
