Missouri Head Coach Cindy Stein
on the game:
"I thought "Stretch" James and Evan Unrau played tremendous games. They did a really good job of keeping us in the game early, when we made lots of mistakes. I was pleased with the win, but disappointed with our energy and the way we took care of the ball. Those are things we need to fix real quick."
on Junior guard MyEsha Perkins:
"She earned her start by playing really well in practice. I don't think we saw her best game tonight. Sometimes it's a tough adjustment to make the transition from practice to starting a game. She's a good player, and she'll come around. I'm not worried."
on the Tigers' 26 steals:
"We got those by playing our positions well. But to also have as many turnovers as we did, that was disappointing. For us to be a great team, we have to work towards perfection. We have tremendous talent but we're not completely molded together yet."
on the team's 18.8% 3-pt. shooting:
"We're better than that, I think that number is a little deceiving. We rushed a lot, and were always looking for that quick kill. We have to be calm, and when we do that we're very good shooters. It will come."
JUNIOR FORWARD EVAN UNRAU
on the Tigers' slow start:
"We were all excited to be at home and playing in front of the Hearnes crowd again. We wanted to get out to a big lead early. I can't think of a specific reason why we didn't do that, but we were able to gain our composure and play hard throughout."
JUNIOR FORWARD "STRETCH" JAMES
on her game:
"In practice, we get to know everyone's game. Everyone seemed to do a real good job tonight of knowing where to get me the ball and finding me when I was open. I just go with the flow from there."
McNEESE STATE HEAD COACH CAROL SENSLEY
on Missouri:
"I think they have a very good ball club. I thought they executed very well, and took us out of our comfort zone. We didn't execute well. They forced us into rushing some passes and some shots. They did a heck of a job on the boards, as far as getting second and third opportunities."
on the Missouri press defense:
"It kind of rushed us and forced us into making some quick passes and turning the ball over, and forcing us to make some bad shots. That's what they were able to get us to do, especially when we didn't handle the pressure well. We weren't as composed as we needed to be."
