Missouri head coach Cindy Stein
On Missouri's transition offense: "I was happy with our transition buckets. We emphasize as one of our game goals for our posts to get down the floor. We wanted to score 10 to 12 points just from our posts primarily getting down the floor and running hard every time. I don't know if we actually had 12, but just the fact that they're running down the floor like that opens up a lot of things because someone has to pick them up. We like to score off transition just as long as it's a good shot."
On the game: "I was pleased with some aspects. I thought in the first half that our substitutions were very good. I felt like we kept the intensity, we made the right adjustments. Second half, when you have a 30-point lead, the group lets it drop. That's something I'm not very satisfied with and we have to get better in that area. I did have an inexperienced point guard in there (Lauren Podratz) and I needed to give her time. We have to go through some of those growing pains to get better as a team."
On sophomore center Amy Loftus: "Amy's getting better and better and what you're seeing is her feeling more comfortable out there. Amy has a tendency to be anxious and to get moving too quickly as far as her shot, but I think she's feeling a little bit more comfortable the more time she gets."
On Missouri's offense: "I thought we had good shots, they just didn't drop and you have to go through that. We were pressing full-court for the first time to start a game. Our kids have to get used to that, that's a conditioning thing."
Expectations for the season: "We've got to get better as a team and for us to be able to prepare for the Big 12 our younger players have to get a lot of time. We've got to get a good solid eight, if not more. That's where our inexperience comes in. These games are helping us do that, putting girls in and putting them in the hot seat, those types of things. It's given us a little bit of a cushion, being able to get good leads and have a cushion to really experiment with some lineups."
Missouri junior guard Kerensa Barr
On Missouri's fast-break offense: "That's how we scored a lot of points last year and I think this team is capable of doing it as well. That's something we look to do every game. One of our game goals tonight was to push the ball up the floor and get some easy baskets. When our post players can outrun their post players it creates a lot of openings."
On the MVP performance of Evan Unrau: "I think Evan was the MVP of this tournament. She scored a lot of points for us last night but every game she's solid for us. She really came into this tournament and looked to establish herself. She was the MVP, she did a great job."
Missouri sophomore forward Evan Unrau
On preparation for the Big 12 season: "They (South Carolina) had some big, athletic girls on the perimeter, 6'5", things like that. That made us better, it made our posts better and that will prepare us for the Angie Welles that we face."
Missouri senior guard Natalie Bright
On winning the Missouri tournament all four years: "It's a big accomplishment for me and my team because we're representing the University of Missouri. I hope I can pass it down to my teammates to know that we have to win our tournament. It's a good tradition."
Southeast Missouri State head coach Ed Arnzen
"We just got beat by a better ball club tonight. I applaud the Tigers, I applaud Cindy's group. They had a great effort. Size-wise, it probably hurt us. Our club has quick guards but I felt like the Tigers negated that because of their size and strength. They may have been quicker, but we gave them credit for that before the ball game started, too. Kerensa Barr was a great player. I didn't think she had a good ball game last night, I thought she would respond tonight and she certainly did."
