Welcome to the 48th year of Tiger gymnastics at the University of Missouri! Following a move to Mizzou Arena for home meets, head coach Shannon Welker led the 2026 Tigers to the program's sixth-straight berth in an NCAA Regional Final and a No. 11 ranking at the end of the season. Coach Welker was named the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regional Coach of the Year, while assistant coach Jackie Terpak earned WCGA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
Your Tigers continued to set records in 2026, highlighted by the highest-ranked win in program history, defeating No. 2 Florida 197.200–196.500 in Mizzou Arena. Mizzou also recorded wins at Kentucky and Auburn for the first time.
The team's active streak of scoring 49.000 or better on floor has extended to 79 consecutive meets, the fifth-longest streak in NCAA women's gymnastics history. The Tigers finished the season ranked seventh nationally on floor with a 49.433 NQS and reached as high as No. 2 in the country during the year. Missouri's floor unit delivered several standout performances in 2026, including a season-high 49.575 on Feb. 20 at the Mizzou Quad, when all counting scores reached 9.900 or better. The Black & Gold also recorded a meet-high 49.450 on floor at the SEC Championship, with four gymnasts scoring 9.900 or higher.
It was an exciting season that saw junior Hannah Horton earn Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Year honors, an award that is finding its home here in CoMo. This is the third-straight year that a Tiger gymnast was named SEC Specialist of the Year.
On top of that, the Tigers had a conference-record 10 gymnasts earn All-SEC honors, with Kimarra Echols also receiving All-Freshman Team honors. Nationally, senior Addison Lawrence (first team on beam) and freshman Kimarra Echols (second team on bars) earned WCGA Regular Season All-American honors.
The 2026 Tigers excelled in academics as well as in competition, with 13 Tiger gymnasts achieving WCGA Scholastic All-America status. Tiger graduate student Lauren Macpherson was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The 2027 season will welcome plenty of new faces, with a handful of elite additions across the board. Welker added assistant coach Oleksii Koltakov to his staff in the offseason; the Ukrainian native joins the Tigers after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Georgia. In addition, the 2027 Tiger squad includes the highest-ranked freshman class in Tiger history, with a No. 5 national ranking.
