A native of Antioch, Ill., Donovan spent three seasons as a scout team player for Robin Pingeton at Illinois State while earning his undergraduate degree. Prior to joining the Mizzou staff, Donovan was an assistant coach at Eureka (Ill.) College, where he helped lead the Red Devils to a record of 21-5. His responsibilities included player development, recruiting, creating scouting reports, film breakdown of opponents and game day preparation.
Donovan’s coaching experience also includes serving as the 8th grade boy’s basketball coach at Thomas Metcalf School in Bloomington, Ill., and as the director of the boy’s basketball program for the fifth through eighth grade teams. He also spent time working Duke men’s basketball camps prior to his time at Mizzou.
In 2011, Donovan graduated from Illinois State with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and completed his master’s in Educational, School & Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Positive Coaching from the University of Missouri in December 2015.
