Molly Jacobsen McCargar joined the University of Missouri softball staff in July 2023. She will assist with the Tigers’ pitching staff, while also playing a critical role in scouting.
"Molly is an upcoming star in our profession," Mizzou Softball Head Coach Larissa Anderson said of Jacobsen McCargar. "I've always admired her work ethic and determination in her playing career, which has carried over now to her coaching career. She has been mentored by some phenomenal softball minds in our game and I look forward to sharing the bullpen with her and our pitching staff."
Jacobsen McCargar joins the Tigers after spending the past two seasons with Texas, where she served as a graduate manager in 2022 and a volunteer assistant in 2023. During her time with the Longhorns, Jacobsen McCargar led Texas to an NCAA National Championship Runner-up finish in 2022, followed by an NCAA Super Regionals appearance in 2023.
With Jacobsen McCargar on staff, several athletes earned NFCA All-Central Region in 2023, including Mac Morgan, Mia Scott and Leighann Goode. On top of this, another seven Longhorns earned All-Big 12 honors last season.
Before coaching, the Adel, Iowa, native, spent some time in the circle as a collegiate pitcher at Texas (2021), Ole Miss (2019-20) and Des Moines Area Community College (2017-18). During her graduate season with Texas, Jacobsen McCargar notched 76 strikeouts to lead the Longhorns to a 14-6 record, before capping the season with an NCAA Super Regional appearance in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Prior to this, Jacobsen McCargar was a standout at Ole Miss, tallying 19 wins, five saves and 230 strikeouts with a 2.53 ERA over two seasons. During her time in Oxford, Mississippi, Jacobsen McCargar helped guide the Rebels to the 2019 NCAA Tucson Super Regional. The pitcher was recognized for her performance, earning a spot on the NFCA Second Team All-South Region and All-SEC Second Team.
Jacobsen McCargar was also a two-time First Team NJCAA All-American, All-District and All-Conference choice at Des Moines Area CC, posting a 51-6 mark with 585 strikeouts. As a sophomore, she was named the NJCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Year.
Jacobsen McCargar earned her bachelor's in exercise science from Ole Miss in 2020 before graduating with a master's in sport management from Texas in 2022. She currently plays professionally for the Florida Vibe softball team.
