Freshman Abby Carr earned second team honors, as senior Cierra Harrison and junior Stefania Abruscato were named to the third team.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three Mizzou softball athletes were named to the NFCA All-Midwest Team, as freshman pitcher/utility player Abby Carr (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette HS) earned second team honors. Senior pitcher Cierra Harrison (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit North HS) and junior catcher Stefania Abruscato (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge HS) were added to the third team; the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday, May 14.
This is the first postseason honor for all three players, and the Tigers once again add three to the list, as they previously did back in 2024 – tied for the most selections since 2022.
The freshman earned a spot on the list under the utility/pitcher category, as she led the Tigers in ERA (2.92), saves (five), home runs (12) and RBIs (44). On the offensive side, she finished her first-year campaign with a .293 batting average, a team-leading .573 slugging percentage and was first on the team for extra-base hits with 22 – 10 doubles and 12 home runs.
On the mound, Carr ended the regular season ranked first in the SEC and sixth in the NCAA with five saves – four of which came in SEC play. She also recorded a team-leading .236 batting average against and struck out 69 batters in 74.1 innings pitched.
Her success on both sides of the plate was recognized on the national level, as she was named Softball America's Freshman Star of the Week on March 24, and earned SEC Freshman of the Week recognition the following week (March 31).
The senior earned her first-ever postseason distinction, as she finished the season tied for the best ERA amongst starters on the team with a 3.36. From the circle, she also ended with a record of 10-10, and a team-leading WHIP of 1.25. In conference play, she led the way with a 2.98 ERA and a .244 batting average against.
Harrison ranked second on the squad with five complete games and three shutouts. One of those games came against No. 22/20 LSU, as she posted her first career complete game shutout in SEC play, as she went all seven innings, allowing just four hits in the 1-0 victory.
One of her most significant accomplishments of the season came against SIUE, as she recorded her second career no-hitter in the five-inning victory. The no-hitter was the first since 2024, as Harrison posted the previous one during the first week of the season against Texas A&M-Commerce.
The junior earned her first career accolade, as she appeared behind the dish in 56 of the 57 games the Tigers played this season. This was Abruscato's first season serving as the main catcher for MU, as Julia Crenshaw served as the primary catcher over the last two seasons. Abruscato filled in for her counterpart, as this is the second-straight year the All-Midwest list includes a Mizzou catcher.
Abruscato finished the season with the second-best batting average on the squad with a .329, and was second on the team with 36 RBIs, as well as being tied for third with nine home runs. The catcher also was second on the team in on-base percentage with a .421, as she walked 19 times and was hit by a pitch nine times.
Abruscato recorded the most multi-hit games on the team with 16 and posted the most RBIs in a single game for the Tigers with five against Minnesota.
