No. 19 Mizzou wrestling continues on the road with a trip out west, starting at Arizona State on Jan. 15 before heading to Utah Valley on Jan. 17. The dual against the Sun Devils will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+, while the contest versus the Wolverines begins at 8 p.m. CT on YouTube.com.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Tigers claimed the top spot at Solder Salute, Jan. 3-4, totaling 166.5 team points and collecting three weight titles and becoming the first team to win the event other than Iowa.
- Individual winners include: Mack Mauger (125), Josh Edmond (149) and Aeoden Sinclair (184).
- Missouri had eight wrestlers earn a spot in the finals (two at 149), the most of any team.
- Over the two-day competition, Mizzou accumulated 41 bonus-point wins with 14 Tigers placing in the top eight of their brackets.
MAUGER MODE
- 125-pound redshirt freshman Mack Mauger is gaining momentum after avenging a finals loss from a year ago to claim the top spot at Soldier Salute, Jan. 3-4.
- Mauger went 4-0, upsetting No. 13 Kysen Terukina (North Carolina) 7-2 in the final by securing a takedown in the second and third periods.
- The Blackfoot, Idaho, native became Missouri's first Soldier Salute Champion, with the event being in its fourth year.
- Overall, Mauger is 15-8 with seven bonus-point wins and is ranked No. 27 at 125 pounds by InterMat.
SIGNED, SEALED, SINCLAIR
- Continuing to dominate, redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair did not compete in a seven-minute match on his way to the Soldier Salute title at 184 pounds, Jan. 3-4.
- Sinclair earned a pin and three technical falls on his way to first place, to redeem a loss in the championship match of the same tournament last season.
- The second ranked 184-pounder leads the team with 18 wins to just one loss, and has an 80-1 takedown ratio this season to average 3.9 takedowns per match.
- Moreover, the tech fall in the finals over No. 23 Jake Dailey of UNC by the redshirt freshman sealed the tournament win for the team over the Tar Heels, 166.5-161.5.
EDMOND EXECUTES
- Redshirt senior Josh Edmond claimed the top spot at Soldier Salute, Jan. 3-4, going 5-0 at 149 pounds.
- The Detroit, Michigan, native is now 16-2 (.889) with the second-best win percentage on the team.
- Furthermore, Edmond became the first Tiger to make the finals of all three major holiday season tournaments. He earned a runner-up finish at the 2022 Southern Scuffle and a runner-up performance at the 2022 Midlands Championships before his championship performance at Soldier Salute.
HEARNES IS HOME
- Teague Travis, a redshirt senior transfer from Oklahoma State, made his debut in Black and Gold at Soldier Salute, Jan. 3-4, and finished second at 157 pounds.
- The Columbia, Missouri, native and Father Tolton graduate returned home to wrestle for his hometown team in his final year of eligibility.
- Travis went 3-1 at Soldier Salute, losing in the final to No. 12 Jordan Williams of Iowa.
- The two-time NCAA qualifier was ranked at No. 15 at 157 by InterMat following the tournament.
- The four-time Missouri State Champion has ties to Tiger Style as well, with Travis' father, Brooks Travis and uncle Corey Hodapp wrestled at Mizzou.
DEDICATED TO DEVELOPMENT
- Missouri had two redshirting wrestlers competing unattached at Soldier Salute, Jan. 3-4, with both making the finals in their respective brackets.
- Sophomore Gage Walker made the move to 133 pounds this season and is 11-1 wrestling unattached.
- Walker defeated No. 23 Luke Willochell (Wyoming) but lost to No. 17 Ethan Oakley by a 4-2 decision in the Soldier Salute final.
- True freshman Seth Mendoza has been making a name for himself during his redshirt season, teching his way to the Soldier Salute final at 149 pounds, including a 17-2 win over No. 30 Gabe Willochell (Wyoming) in 2:27 during the semifinals.
- Mendoza has defeated four ranked wrestlers this season and has totaled seven bonus-point wins, but holds a 6-4 record of countable matches.
PACING THE PACK
- Redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair leads the team with 18 wins, followed closely by redshirt senior Evan Bates and redshirt freshman Jarrett Stoner at 17 apiece.
- Sinclair tops the team with 12 bonus-point wins, while Bates has totaled 11.
- Leading the team in falls is redshirt freshman Logan Cole and Sinclair at five.
LAST TIME VS. ARIZONA STATE
- Missouri won five matches against Arizona State, Jan. 22, 2025, to seal the victory over the Sun Devils, 21-15.
- The Tigers earned major decisions from Kade Moore (133), Josh Edmond (141) and Joel Mylin (174), with Mylin bumping up after weighing in at 165 to get the win at 174.
- J Conway earned a decision win at 157 pounds, and Cam Steed won by injury default over No. 17 Nicco Ruiz.
- Moore received the Outstanding Wrestler belt from UFC Fight Pass for his major decision upset over No. 23 Julian Chlebove.
THE SERIES: TIGERS - SUN DEVILS
- The match between Missouri and Arizona State will be the 11th meeting between the two programs, with ASU holding a slight 5-4-1 advantage.
- Tiger Style has claimed won the previous two matches and three of the previous four.
- All but one dual between the programs has been wrestled with Brian Smith at the helm, making him 4-4-1 against the Sun Devils.
- Moreover, Smith against ASU head coach Zeke Jones is 5-2-0, including his time leading the West Virginia program (1998-2005).
FAMILIAR FACES
- Missouri will see familiar faces across the mat with connections to the Tiger Style program.
- ASU assistant coach Lee Pritts began his coaching career at Mizzou under coach Smith before departing in 2004. Smith also coached Pritts to two Florida State Championships in high school.
- Additionally, three-time NCAA qualifier for the Tigers, Colton Hawks, now wrestles for the Sun Devils at 197 pounds. Hawks compiled 47 wins for the Tigers and placed as high as fourth in the 2023 Big 12 Championship.
LAST TIME VS. UTAH VALLEY
- Last season, Mizzou defeated Utah Valley 18-16, Jan. 17, 2025.
- Battling through injuries, the Tigers won the first five matches (125-157), including No. 17 Josh Edmond's 7-4 win over No. 13 Haiden Drury at 141 pounds.
- Jarrett Stoner sealed the win at heavyweight with a 5-1 win over Jack Forbes.
- Three true freshmen saw action in the dual in Gage Walker (125), Jake Crapps (133) and Logan Cole (174), with Walker and Crapps taking home wins.
THE SERIES: TIGERS - WOLVERINES
- Missouri is undefeated all-time against Utah Valley, holding a 3-0 record with all matches occurring during the Brian Smith era.
- The first meeting dates back to a 48-0 win for the Tigers in 2004-05.
- Tiger Style has scored a combined 84 team points across the three meetings, to the Wolverines 31.

- Max Mayfield (75), Josh Edmond (75), Evan Bates (69) and Luqman Masud (67).
ON THE HORIZON
- Missouri returns home to Columbia for a doubleheader weekend, taking on No. 5 Oklahoma State on Friday, Jan. 23, and Northern Colorado on Sunday, Jan. 25. Both duals will be streamed on ESPN+ and will start at 6:30 p.m. CT and 1 p.m. CT, respectively.
