
Slaughter Leads Women's Basketball Past Texas A&M

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Behind 29 points from sophomore guard Grace Slaughter, University of Missouri women's basketball defeated Texas A&M 69-59 on Sunday afternoon in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
Slaughter scored 14 of her total in the third frame and added four rebounds to round out her stat line.
Graduate guard De'Myla Brown contributed 12 points and five boards.
Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke notched 10 points, two rebounds and a steal.
Four Tigers were in the scoring column at the first media timeout. Led by three points from junior guard Ashton Judd, Missouri (13-13, 2-9 SEC) held an early 9-8 advantage.
Neither team separated by more than four points in the opening period as Schreacke powered the Tigers with four points.
Free throws in the final seconds gave Texas A&M a 16-15 lead headed into the second frame.
Facing a nine-point deficit midway through the second, Slaughter led Missouri on an 11-0 run that handed the Tigers a 28-26 lead with just over a minute remaining before the break.
Slaughter notched nine of her scoring total in the Tigers' scoring charge.
A late 3-pointer by Brown saw the score even at 31-31 as the teams headed into the locker room.
Slaughter continued to control the contest as early in the third quarter a triple by the sophomore sparked an 8-2 Missouri run that was capped off by another 3-pointer by Schreacke.
Leading by four, the Tigers closed the third period on a 9-1 run initiated by yet another 3-pointer by Slaughter and finished off by Judd with a triple in the corner.
The push gave Missouri a 55-43 lead headed into the final frame.
Missouri continued to separate from the Aggies early in the fourth as back-to-back triples by Brown and Slaughter saw the Tigers leading by 16 with just over five minutes remaining.
Missouri was eventually able to take an 18-point advantage before closing out the contest.
The Tigers grabbed a season-high 22 offensive rebounds in the victory.
Missouri scored 21 points off 19 Aggies turnovers.

Missouri will be back in action at 2 p.m. on Sunday to face Oklahoma for the second time this season. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network.
