COLUMBIA, Mo - No. 20 University of Missouri wrestling heads to the Sooner State matches against No. 22 Oklahoma on Saturday, Feb. 1 and No. 3 Oklahoma State on Sunday, Feb. 2. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+, with the dual versus the Sooner starting at 7 p.m. CT and the match against the Cowboys beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
- Missouri picked up a 22-16 win over West Virginia at home, extending its winning streak to three matches and securing its first ranked win of the season.
- Redshirt sophomore Kade Moore picked up a fall at 133 pounds, while classmate James Conway added a major decision at 157 pounds.
- Redshirt juniors Josh Edmond and Logan Gioffre added decision wins at 141 and 149 pounds, respectively.
- At 285 pounds, redshirt freshman Jarrett Stoner secured the victory by injury default over Michael Wolfgram.
DON'T LET THE TIGERS GET HOT
- While battling through injuries MIssouri hosted five home duals in the month of January, going 3-2 overall and 3-0 against Big 12 opponents.
- Defeating three consecutive conference foes, the Tigers outscored its league opposition 61-47 in team points over that stretch (Utah Valley: 18-16, Arizona State: 21-15 and West Virginia: 22-16).
MOORE MAGIC
- With his pin of Tommy Maddox of West Virginia, Kade Moore became the first two-time winner of the Outstanding Wrestler belt presented by UFC Fight Pass.
- Moore's fall marked his second consecutive dual victory, following a 13-3 major decision over No. 23 Julian Chlebove against Arizona State.
- The redshirt sophomore has now recorded five falls in his last six matches, with seven of his nine wins this season earning bonus points.
GIOFFRE'S RETURN
- Redshirt junior Logan Gioffre made his return to the starting lineup at 149 pounds versus West Virginia, Jan. 26, after last competing in a dual against Northern Iowa, Nov. 26.
- In his return, Gioffre came out on top of Moutaineer Sam Hillegas 9-8 for his third dual win of the season.
THE SERIES: OKLAHOMA
- The matchup between Missouri and Oklahoma marks the 59th meeting between the two programs, dating back to Mizzou wrestling's first season in 1923. The Sooners hold the advantage in the rivalry, 43-16-0.
- The Tigers first win over the Sooners occurred during the 1977-78 season under head coach Bob Kopnisky, with a 24-13 win.
- Despite the overall series record, MIssouri is 14-9 against Oklahoma under current head coach Brian Smith and has not lost to the Sooners since the 2016-17 season.
- Moreover, Mizzou has won six of the last seven duals against the Sooners, and has outscored them 63-15 in team points over the last two meetings.
LAST TIME VS THE SOONERS
- Missouri delivered a dominant performance in its last match against Oklahoma on December 1, 2023, securing a decisive 30-12 victory.
- The Tigers picks up major decision wins from Noah Surtin (125) and Brock Mauller (157), while Keegan O'Toole picked up a pin at 165 pounds.
- Logan Gioffre (149) upset No. 22 Willie McDougald with a 4-1 sudden-victory decision for his first ranked win of the season.
- Peyton Mocco (174) and Clayton Whiting (184) added back-to-back technical falls to seal the win.

- Since the first meeting in 1928-29, Missouri is 8-45-1 against Oklahoma State all-time.

LAST TIME VS THE COWBOYS
- Missouri came up short against Oklahoma State at their last meeting on February 4th, 2024 by a score of 24-10.
- Keegan O'Toole secured his eighth win of the season over No. 3 Izzak Olejnik, 5-1, remaining undefeated at 14-0.
- Rocky Elam (197) and earned an 8-0 major over Kyle Haas, while big brother Zach Elam (285) picked up a ranked decision win over No. 9 Konner Doucet.
VALUABLE VETERANS
- Most recently, Tiger Style was forced to announce it will be without 184-pound starter and two-time NCAA qualifier Colton Hawks for the time being.
- Head coach Brian Smith announced that senior Rocky Elam, who has been combating multiple injuries, will not wrestle this season on Jan. 2
- Additionally, classmate Keegan O'Toole has been battling an injury sustained earlier in the season and will miss the month of January to allow him to recover as much as possible. Smith remains optimistic O'Toole will be ready for the postseason.
- Elam, O'Toole and Hawks join senior Noah Surtin as missing starters from the projected 2024-25 lineup, as he announced his medical retirement on Dec. 13, 2024.
- With their absence, the lineup is missing four wrestlers who have totaled 279 career wins and 152 bonus-point victories.
RANKINGS REPORT
- The Black and Gold are ranked No. 20 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Poll.
- Mizzou has six of 10 wrestlers ranked by InterMat and FloWrestling.
- Keegan O'Toole comes in at No. 3 on FloWrestling's pound-for-pound list and maintains his No. 1 ranking at 174 pounds.
- The Tigers have seven wrestlers ranked on the first NCAA Coaches rankings of the season.
