COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following a victory over Kentucky and a 3-0 start to SEC play, the University of Missouri women's basketball team (14-2, 3-0) will welcome Arkansas (15-3, 2-1) to Mizzou Arena at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The contest will air on SECN+ and KTGR.
Missouri is looking to improve to 4-0 in conference play for just the second time in program history and the first since the 1979-80 season. Mizzou began that year 3-1, but an opening league loss to Kansas was later forfeited.
The Tigers defeated the Wildcats, 66-65, on Thursday to remain perfect. Four players scored in double figures led by graduate guard Katlyn Gilbert who totaled a team-high 13 points. The performance marked the first time this season that Gilbert has sat atop the scoring column for Missouri.
In the win, graduate guard Haley Troup made her 132 career appearance in a Missouri uniform setting a new all-time program high.
Senior forward Hayley Frank scored nine in the victory and now ranks 15th on the program's all-time scoring leaderboard with 1330 points.
Junior guard Sara-Rose Smith tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Smith is one of just two players to accomplish the statistical feat off the bench five times this year.
After leading the league in 3-point efficiency a season ago, Missouri has continued its long-range success and ranks second in the SEC with a 36.0% percent conversion rate this year.
Sunday will mark the 32nd meeting between the two programs, Arkansas leads the all-time series, 18-13.
Arkansas' roster is headlined by reigning SEC Freshman of the Year Samara Spencer who is scoring 15.7 points per game.
Redshirt junior Erynn Barnum is complimenting Spencer, scoring 15.3 points per contest.
