No. 18/19 Mizzou Softball Faces Mississippi State in Weekend Series

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 18/19 Mizzou Softball (29-10, 7-5) will take on Mississippi State (22-16, 0-9), starting Friday at 6:30 pm CT on SECN+. Mizzou leads the all-time series eight games to seven. The Bulldogs have won each of the last three matchups, sweeping the Tigers in 2019.
Mizzou sits fourth in the SEC standings, entering the weekend with a 7-5 record. The Bulldogs sit at the bottom of the conference, still winless in SEC play.
Senior Brooke Wilmes collected her 200th hit over the weekend against LSU. She is the 14th player in school history to reach the mark and currently stands tied for 13th with Ashley Fleming at 201 career hits. Additionally, Wilmes has ripped 51 doubles over her career, tied for third in Mizzou Softball history. She leads the team with 14 stolen bases on the season, a career high.
Catcher Hatti Moore has been impressing with the bat in her senior season. Moore has 14 home runs on the year while being tied for the team lead with 37 RBI and leading the team with 39 runs scored. The Texan leads the team with a 1.182 OPS and 22 walks.
Freshman Jenna Laird has produced offensively and flashed defensively early on in her career. Laird is second on the team with a .413 batting average. She has a team-best .432 average in SEC play. The Long Island-native has been named SEC Freshman of the Week twice during the 2021 season.
Two other players that have big major parts of the Tiger offense are Casidy Chaumont and Kendyll Bailey. In SEC play Chaumont has batted .385 with six extra-base hits in nine games. Bailey has slashed .406/.500/.719 in 12 SEC games along with two homers and seven runs batted in.
