COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 19 Mizzou Softball (29-9, 7-5) will take on Kansas (19-15, 1-5) in another edition of the Border Showdown. The Tigers lead the all-time series 70-43, winning the last 12 matchups.
First pitch will be at 4:00 pm CT on Tuesday afternoon, and it will be broadcasted on SEC Network plus with Nate Gatter and Ashley Moore on the call.
The Tigers fell in a weekend series against No. 17/15 LSU. Mizzou won the first game in a run-rule by a score of 9-1. After Saturday's game was rained out, Missouri fell in both ends of the doubleheader on Sunday.
Brooke Wilmes was able to collect the 200th hit of her career. She became only the 14th Mizzou player to reach the mark. Additionally, Wilmes moved into a tie for third in Mizzou Softball history with 51 doubles in her career. The senior hit four doubles in the three-game series, including a walkoff double to secure the run-rule victory on Friday night.
Both Hatti Moore and Kimberly Wert passed the 100 RBI mark in their respective Mizzou careers. Moore collected her 100th RBI on an RBI single to score Brooke Wilmes in the first game on Sunday. Wert joined the ranks with a solo home run to center field, the 34th of her Mizzou career.
Freshman Riley Frizell collected three RBIs on the weekend, including a clutch two-out two-run single in the series-opening victory. Frizell started the final two games of the series at first base.
Pitcher Emma Nichols led the Tigers to victory on Friday Night by going four innings and allowing only one hit.
