Weber moves up to No. 2 All-time in men's discus
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Track and Field closed out the Mizzou Spring Opener on Saturday afternoon, notching seven event wins on the day and 12 total on the weekend. Freshman Jonathan Schmidt (Dresden, Saxony, Germany), sophomore Morgan O'Neal (Sylacauga, Ala.), freshman David Buckner (St. Louis, Mo.), redshirt freshman Mitchell Weber (Saint Clair, Minn.) and freshman Jacob Brunsman (Fenton, Mo.) all notched individual wins on the day, and the Tigers also swept the men's and women's 4x100m relays.
Notable Finishes
Schmidt started the day for the Tigers by winning the 800m in a time of 1:52.31, two seconds off his personal best. Mizzou swept the top-3 spots in the event, as freshman Angus Beer (Rozelle, Australia) and redshirt junior Robert Kuhlmann (Lake Villa, Ill.) finished in second and third, respectively.
Mizzou won both the men's and women's 400m hurdles on the day, as well. On the women's side, O'Neal finished first in a time of 1:01.41. O'Neal also anchored both the women's 4x100m and 4x400m teams, which finished first and second, respectively. For the men, Buckner won in a time of 55.22 in his debut 400m hurdles race.
In his debut for the Tigers in the discus, Weber secured the first-place finish and set a new personal best with a throw of 60.99m (200-1). He now ranks No. 2 in program history in the event.
In the 200m dash, Brunsman outlasted teammate Blake Hays (Monroe, Mo.), finishing first in the event and setting a new personal best with a time of 21.93.

Up Next
Mizzou heads down to Austin, Texas for the 93rd annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays next weekend. The meet will begin on March 25 and conclude on March 27.
