
Track and Field Enters Postseason with SEC Outdoor Championships

The women seek their 13th SEC individual outdoor title and the men’s fourth.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri track and field begins its postseason journey with the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday-Saturday at Hutsell Rosen Track Facility, hosted by Auburn University.
The three-day event will be streamed on SECN+ and announced by Dwight Stones, Dan O'Brien, John Anderson and Larra Overton.
RANKED TIGERS
Missouri has five women and three men in the top ranked among the top 50 nationally in individual events.
Skylar Ciccolini ranks the highest for the Tigers at No. 3 nationally with a throw of 57.45m (188-6) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, which ranks third in program history.
Valentina Barrios is No. 9 nationally with a mark of 55.89m (183-4), recorded at the Drake Relays.
The women's javelin group ranks No. 1 for the seventh consecutive week for the national event squad rankings, seeking its first SEC outdoor title.
Marlena Tresnjo ranks 14th in high jump after securing a 1.83m (6-0) at the Drake Relays, to tie the program's No. 5 all-time result.
Monica Wanjiku's 10,000m result of 32:28.20 at the Bryan Clay Invitational marks No. 20 nationally. At last year's Outdoor SEC Championships, she took sixth in the 10,000m with a 34:29.76.
Brianna Utecht ranks No. 38 in the heptathlon with 5,449 points from the Texas Relays, the No. 6 mark in program history.
Sam Innes ranks No. 10 nationally in the hammer throw after posting a personal-best 70.36m (230-10) at Battle on the Bayou, the No. 2 mark in program history.
Elijah Limo ranks 32nd for the 3000 meter steeplechase, following his personal best performance of 8:40.60 at the Raleigh Relays.
Dillon Leacock ranks No. 39 nationally in the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.93, which stands No. 3 all-time at Missouri.
FACILITY NAMESAKE: WILBUR HALL HUTSELL
Auburn's Hutsell-Rosen Track is named for a Mizzou graduate and a member of Missouri's Hall of Fame, Wilbur Hall Hutsell, inducted in 1998. A native of Moberly, Missouri, Hutsell was the Missouri Valley Conference 440-yard run champion in 1914, and a student assistant coach for the Tigers in 1914-15 but made his mark on the track and field world while coaching at Auburn University from 1921-63. During his career there, he coached three NCAA champions, four Olympians, five AAU champions, and five high hurdlers who won national championships. He had a dual meet record of 112-24 and won three Southeastern Conference championships. He also served two terms as director of athletics at Auburn, and at various times was head trainer, head basketball coach and professor of physical education. Hutsell coached the U.S. Olympic Team in 1924, '28 and '32, was president of the National Collegiate Track Coaches Association in 1941-42, and a member of the NCAA Track and Field Rules Committee for 12 years. He was inducted into the Helms Foundation Hall of Fame in 1957, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1970, the Missouri Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1975, and the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1977.
LAST TIME AT THE SEC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
At last year's championship, the women took home their 12th individual outdoor title since joining the conference, with Kristi Perez-Snyman taking the high jump victory and setting the school record with a 1.80m (6-2.75). Barrios notched a school record in javelin, earning silver with a throw of 58.20m (190-11). Perez-Snyman was named to All-SEC First Team and Barrios to All-SEC Second Team, marking 12 Women's Outdoor All-SEC selections since joining the conference.
Ames Burton claimed a sixth-place finish in discus after a 54.40m (178-6) mark. Wanjiku also tallied sixth in the 10,000m, crossing the finish line in 34:29.76. Morgan Cannon followed Barrios in javelin with a tenth place result of 48.33m (158-6).
The men look to deliver their fourth SEC individual title since Ja'Mari Ward took the long jump victory in 2019. In addition, they look to claim an individual title at both the SEC indoor and outdoor championship meets for the second time in history since Drew Rogers collected his second indoor event title in the mile. At the 2025 Outdoor Championships, he led the Tigers in 12th in the 5000m with a 14:02.04.
Limo secured a fifth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a 8:52.53. Joshua Allison followed in seventh with a 8:56.13. Innes represented the hammer throw squad in seventh with a throw of 67.15m (220-3).
The men finished 15th overall with 14 points and the women came in 12th with 28.
