
No. 16/18 Mizzou Softball Opens SEC Play at Georgia

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 16/18 Mizzou Softball (19-4) will travel to No. 19/20 Georgia (19-2) to open SEC play on Friday. The Tigers are coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Mizzou Tournament.
Mizzou has two wins over Top-25 teams in the 2021 season, defeating both Florida State and UCF on the road.
Shortstop Jenna Laird was named the SEC Player of the Week for her performance in the Mizzou Tournament. She batted .636 with eight runs batted in on the weekend.
The batting the order for the Tigers has been extremely productive during the 2021 season. Mizzou's starters are batting .383 on the season with 33 home runs and 137 RBIs combined.
Last season, before the early shutdown, Mizzou only played one SEC series against Ole Miss. The Tigers swept the series. The Tigers have not played on the road in SEC play since April of 2019 at Mississippi State. The last series between Mizzou and Georgia was won by the Tigers (3/15-17/19).
