Steelman Continues Hot Streak to Land T-4 Finish at LSU Invitational

Ross Steelman claims second-career Top-5 finish
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf closed out their second spring event, the LSU Invitational, on Sunday afternoon. The team finished in 12th place posting a 39-over 903 (305-298-300). Redshirt sophomore standout Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.) led the charge to finish at T-4 with a 2-over par 218.
Steelman's Top-5 performance marked his season-best and second career-best finish. His play improved each round as he fired a 75 on day one, followed by a 74 in the second round, and ended with a 3-under 69, marking his 15th career round under-par, seven of which have come from this season. Steelman's weekend was anchored by a total of 11 birdies.
Sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan) bounced back on the second day to card a 1-over 73 which included 4 birdies after posting a 79 in the first round. His 10-over 226 slotted him for a T-43 finish, his second-best this season.
Graduate student Walker Kesterson (Ashland, Mo.) returned for his second-event as a Tiger and sandwiched an 82 with two 74s. Sinking five birdies on the weekend, Kesterson ended with a 14-over 230 at T-61.
Veteran Rory Franssen's (Inverness, Scotland) weekend was highlighted by his second round even-par 72 score with five birdies. This makes his fifth round of par or better this season.
Rounding out the team score was recent sophomore transfer Michael Terblanche (Hilton, KawZulu-Natal, South Africa). He shot his tournament-best round on the second day with a 7-over 79 to close the weekend with a 30-over 246 in 86th place.
Junior Tommy Boone competed as an individual for the second week in a row. He matched fellow Tiger Tsai at T-43 after carding a 10-over 226.
The Tigers compete next in two weeks at the 2021 Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner in Auburn, Ala. from March 15-17.
