Mizzou Men’s Golf Closes Out Tiger Invitational

Sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai Leads the Team for the First Time
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf wrapped up the Auburn-hosted, Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner on Wednesday afternoon, finishing in 15th place after carding a 19-over 883 (294-301-288).
The originally planned three-day event was condensed into Monday featuring continuous play of two rounds and Tuesday rounding out the final 18 holes. However, due to inclement weather, the third round was paused and postponed to Wednesday.
Showcasing a solid final round, sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan) fired a 2-under 70 to compliment his even-par 72 in the second round which was highlighted by sinking five birdies within seven holes. This marked his first time leading the team as he ended in T-46 with a 4-over 220.
Redshirt sophomore Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.) and graduate student Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) both closed the event at T-66. Steelman ended the final round strong by carding a 1-under 71, while Franssen came out firing from the beginning to post a 2-under 70 in the first round. This marks Steelman's sixth consecutive event in which he has recorded at least one round under-par.
Graduate student Walker Kesterson (Ashland, Mo.) sandwiched a 3-over 75 with a pair of 74s to claim T-72 with an 8-over 224.
In his season debut, sophomore Viktor Einarsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) rounded out the tournament with a 2-over 74 after carding back-to-back 76s in both rounds on Monday. Einarsson closed out the event with a 10-over 226 to finish T-76.
Back competing as an individual, junior Tommy Boone (Plano, Texas) caught fire on Monday afternoon's second round to fire a 2-under 70 which featured an eagle and four birdies.
The team takes another two-week hiatus before returning to action in Awendaw, South Carolina for The Hootie at Bulls Bay event from March 28-30.
