
Men’s Golf Set to Compete in National Golf Invitational

The Mizzou men's golf team is set to continue its season by competing in the fourth edition of the National Golf Invitational, starting on Friday.
TOURNAMENT INFO
Presented in partnership with Golfweek, the 2026 NGI features 10 college teams competing in a 54-hole postseason collegiate event, which is equivalent to the NIT in college basketball. The schools are set to play 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, the individual winner of this weekend's event will receive an exemption into a PGA Tour event with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship ¬– set for Oct. 22-25 at Port Royal Golf Couse in Southampton, Bermuda – inviting the champion.
Ohio State won last season's championship.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The schools are set to compete at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The par 72 course measures 7,439 yards in length.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Tigers are joined by Augusta, Grand Canyon, Mercer, Nevada, North Alabama, Rhode Island, Tennessee Tech, William & Mary and Wyoming in the 2026 field.
2025-26 SEASON RECAP
The Tigers competed in 11 tournaments during the 2025-26 campaign, finishing in the top three on three occasions. Highlighting the season was winning the Tiger Intercollegiate for the second-straight year, posting a seven-shot victory over Iowa State to clinch the title.
Junior Veikka VIskari leads the team with a 71.92 stroke average this season, followed by Trent Mierl (72.97) and Virgilio Paz (73.18). Freshman Esteban Cruz Bonilla has also come on strong as of late as he led the team at the SEC Championship with a two-under tally of 208 last month.
VISKARI COMPETES AT NCAA REGIONAL
Junior Veikka Viskari wrapped up his season this week in another postseason tournament, competing at the Arizona regional of the NCAA Championship. Viskari recorded a score of +3 over 54 holes and finished on a strong note with a five-under 67 on Wednesday – the sixth-best 18-hole score for a Tiger at the regional and the fourth-best mark on the day of any of the 75 golfers in the NCAA field.
