Tigers look to continue winning ways over their border rival

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Ranked in the top 25 for the fifth-straight week, No. 23/24 Mizzou Softball will head east to St. Louis, Mo., for a midweek matchup against rival Illinois, Wednesday evening. The Tigers will play Illinois in a neutral site game at Lindenwood University.
Mizzou swept the Illini in last season's doubleheader, 2-0 and 3-2.
LEADING OFF
- The Tigers lead the all-time series against their rivals east of the border, 10-3.
- As a head coach, Larissa Anderson owns a 2-0 record over Illinois.
- Mizzou is currently riding a five-game win streak after a 7-6 stretch from Feb. 15 - March 1.
- Mizzou has outscored its opponents 29-3 over its last four games, and 50-21 over the last eight games.
- The Tigers have already secured a win against their rival to the west (Kansas). Mizzou will play opponents from seven of the eight states that border Missouri, with only a Tennessee school not appearing on the schedule.
- The Tigers have currently gone 8-1 against bordering opponents, picking up territorial wins against Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
GET OUT YOUR BROOMS
- Mizzou opened Southeastern Conference with a 3-0 sweep over the Ole Miss Rebels, March 6-8.
- Over the weekend, Mizzou put up a run differential of +15 (18-3).
- It is the first time since joining the conference in 2013 that the Tigers have swept the opening series, and the first time Mizzou has won a SEC opening series since 2016.
- The Tigers have another chance to make history this coming week at Auburn. The last time Mizzou swept back-to-back conference series was 2016 against Texas A&M and Mississippi State (April 23 - May 1).
- Since joining the conference, Mizzou has swept back-to-back series only three times.
ROLLIN A THREAT ON THE BASEPATHS
- Jazmyn Rollin has been a threat on the base paths all season for the Tigers. Her 14 stolen bases rank is tied for second in the conference.
- Rollin is approaching her season total of 17 stolen bases from 2019, only 25 games into this season.
- Her aggressiveness on the base paths has often put Rollin in scoring position. The sophomore is currently tied for 16th in the country with 27 runs this season.
- Her runs-per-game average of 1.08 ranks 37th nationally.
- The sophomore doesn't just play small ball. Her seven home runs on the year is tied for the team lead, and tied for fifth in the conference.
DANIEL'S SENIOR SENDOFF
- In her final season in a Tigers uniform, Eli Daniel is leaving it all out on the field. She is tied for first in the nation with five saves.
- Her strikeout to walk ratio of 12.67 ranks fourth in the country.
- Daniel's six wins are the most she's had in a single season at the Division I level. She previously went 5-2 in 2018.
- Daniel is one of two pitchers with six wins and five saves this season.
- The senior has not surrendered a run since Feb. 22 (California) and has held opponents scoreless in 14 of her 16 appearances.
- She has given up just 6 runs this season, while holding opposing batters to a .151 average.
