Tigers defeat New Mexico, Cal at the Mary Nutter
CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Mizzou Softball bounced back from Friday's loss with a pair of wins on Saturday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Tigers opened the day with a 5-0 win over New Mexico, before adding an 11-7 victory over Cal in the afternoon.
Mizzou finished the day with 17 hits at the plate, and struck out 16 batters in the circle for a dominant effort.

Turning Point
Mizzou jumped to an early lead with five runs in the first two innings to put the Lobos away early.
Jazmyn Rollin hit a two-run home run to the right field foul pole in the number two spot in the bottom of the first for the Tigers. Two batters later, Cayla Kessinger showed her speed by scoring from first base on an RBI single from Hatti Moore.
Kessinger batted in Megan Moll and Rollin in the bottom of the second to give the Tigers the 5-0 lead.
Mizzou received all the pitching support it needed from Jordan Weber. The freshman struck out a career high nine batters, and didn't allow a runner past second all game. The Lobos failed to get a runner on base in the final four innings.

- Jordan Weber improved to 3-0 with her gem. She struck out nine batters in a one-hit gem.
- Jazmyn Rollin finished the day 1-for-2 with two runs and a home run.
- Cayla Kessinger batted in two runs.
Notes
- Mizzou shutout a team for only the second time this season (Kansas, Feb. 13).
- Jordan Weber's nine strikeouts are the most by any Mizzou pitcher this season – the second-straight game the Tigers have reset their season high.
- New Mexico's one hit is the fewest allowed by Mizzou this season. The previous low was Kansas' two hits (Feb. 13).
- Kendal Cook made her first career start in right field, and added her first career hit.
CAL RECAP
Turning Point
Mizzou jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings of play, but entered the top of the seventh tied 7-7 with the Golden Bears. Jazmyn Rollin and Hatti Moore both reached base on a single and a walk, sending Kimberly Wert to the plate with one out in the inning.
On a 2-1 count, Wert sent the ball over the centerfield fence for a three-run shot to give the Tigers a 10-7 lead. Emma Raabe scored on an RBI single from Megan Moll for the four-run lead.
In the bottom half of the inning, Eli Daniel struck out the side to end the game.
Top Tigers
- Kimberly Wert hit for extra bases twice, ending the game 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and three RBI.
- Hatti Moore batted in three runs with a home run in a 1-for-3 with two runs.
- Jazmyn Rollin scored twice and batted in a pair of runs while going 2-for-4.
- Eli Daniel picked up the win – striking out five batters in 3.2 innings.
Notes
- Jazmyn Rollin hit home runs in back-to-back games for the second time this season. She also achieved the feat against South Alabama and Baylor (Feb. 7-8).
- The Tigers posted a multi-home run game for the seventh time this season.
- This was the fourth time Mizzou has hit three or more home runs in a game, and first since against James Madison (Feb. 15).
- Eli Daniel picked up her fifth win of the season, matching her single-season high at the Division I level (2018).
QUOTABLE
- "It was great to bounce back with two wins after a tough day yesterday," said head coach Larissa Anderson. "We had great offensive production all the way through the lineup, and we had some great, key RBI hits with two outs. This team continues to fight and battle all the way to the last out."
