IOWA STATE CLASSIC
AMES, Iowa- Mizzou Track & Field redshirt sophomore Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) earned a spot in the Mizzou record books after finishing sixth in the men's mile. Prodanov's time of 4:02.91 is the sixth fastest mile time in program history and a new personal best.
NOTABLE FINISHES
In his first race of the season, junior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, England) finished with a mile time of 4:07.18. Wood returns after only competing in one cross country race last season.
Freshmen Kelsey Schweizer (Des Moines, Iowa) and Jonathan Schmidt (Dresden, Germany) each competed in the 800m run with Schmidt set a new personal best time of 1:55.20
TYSON INVITATIONAL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mizzou Track & Field wrapped up the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.), who currently sits in second-place in program history, logged a first-place finish in the event. Meanwhile, five Tigers set new personal records on day two of the meet.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Mizzou had representatives on each side of the invitational high jump on Saturday as senior Karissa Roman (Kewanee, Ill.) and sophomore Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) were both in action. Roman and Vilches both finished third with marks of 1.77m (5-9.75) and 2.21m (7-3), respectively.
In the 3000m run, redshirt freshman Victor Mugeche (Blue Springs, Mo.) and junior Lexi Maddox both improved their personal bests by ten seconds. Mugeche finished second (8:23.80) in the men's race while Maddox finished sixth (10:07.96) on the women's side. Within the men's sprints group, sophomore Jalen Knox (Mainsfield, Texas) and senior Caulin Graves (Kansas City, Mo.) both set personal records in the 200m dash among a loaded field of competitors.
UP NEXT
The Tigers host their final home meet of the indoor season on Saturday, Feb. 22 with the Missouri Collegiate Challenge. The meet will take place at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. The Tigers then transition to the postseason portion of the indoor season as the squad will head to College Station, Texas for the SEC Championships on Thursday, Feb. 27.
