FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mizzou Track & Field kicked off the Razorback Invitational on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark. by totaling five personal records and a new program top-10 mark. Junior Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) moved into seventh-place in program history with a personal-best time of 21.46 in the 200m dash. Clarke finished 16th in a loaded 200m dash field and joins sophomore Jayson Ashford and sophomore Khmari Thompson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) as the only three active athletes in the program 200m dash top-10.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Four of five Tigers who competed in the 200m dash recorded personal-bests. Sophomore Jalen Knox (Mansfield, Texas) posted a time of 22.25 while Freshmen Blake Hays (Monroe, Mo.) and Jacob Brunsman (Fenton, Mo.) finished in 22.29 and 22.32, respectively.
Redshirt senior Jordan McClendon (Black Jack, Mo.) posted the best overall finish for the Tigers by placing second in the women's weight throw by logging a throw of 20.60m (67-7). Mizzou sophomore Sydney Oberdiek (Platte City, Mo.) recorded a new personal best and finished seventh, posting a mark of 18.75m (61-6.25)
Mizzou had representatives in both the men's heptathlon and the women's pentathlon. Redshirt sophomore Arielle Mack competed in the pentathlon, which wrapped up on day one. Mack competed in five events and finished the day with 3,307 points. She finished eighth in the long jump with a final mark of 5.63m (18-5.75).
On the men's side, Junior Jason Edwards (Eldon, Mo.) competed in the heptathlon. The field competed in four of the seven events on the first day, with three scheduled for Saturday. Edwards finished 11th in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.90m (6-2.75). He finished with 2,859 points on the day and will resume competition Saturday morning.
UP NEXT
The action continues tomorrow with day two of the Razorback Invitational. Track events begin at 10:40 a.m. CT. with the Heptathlon 60m hurdles and field events start with the men's shot put at 12:30 p.m. CT. Featured events will take place between 1 and 4 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted live on SECN+.
