
Britney Ward Recieves NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri gymnast Britney Ward was one of 42 student-athletes nationally to receive an NCAA Winter Postgraduate Scholarship, the organization announced recently. Ward graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's degree in health science earlier this month and will pursue a Master of Occupational Therapy from Mizzou starting this summer.
The one-time non-renewable scholarships of $10,000 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring). Each sports season there are 21 scholarships available for men and 21 scholarships available for women for use in an accredited graduate program. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
Ward was a three-time NACGC Regular Season All-America second team selection over her four-year Tiger career. She claimed honors on beam in both 2016 and 2017 and on vault in 2017 as well. Also a four-time All-Southeastern Conference Team recipient, Ward took home vault honors in 2016 and 2017, beam honors in 2018 and All-Freshman Team accolades in 2016. She was earned weekly honors from the SEC three times in her career, most recently named the SEC Specialist of the Week on Jan. 4, 2019.
Over her career, Ward has won 31 event titles, including 17 on beam and 14 on vault. She competed on beam 48 times in her Tiger career, made the the vault lineup 39 times, and also also competed on bars in nine meets as a sophomore in 2017. She holds six of the top 16 beam scores in Mizzou history and stands as one of only two Tiger gymnastics to ever earn a 9.975 on the event. Ward also scored 9.95 or higher on beam six times in her career, which ranks second-most in school history.
Ward is also a three-time WCGA Scholastic All-American and an SEC Honor Roll performer. She was Mizzou's female nominee for the Southeastern Conference's H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship as well.
