STORYLINES
- Mizzou will close its regular season with a three-game series against No. 16 South Carolina.
- The Tigers and Gamecocks are deadlocked in the all-time series, each winning eight games apiece.
- Mizzou will be looking for some revenge this weekend, as the Tigers were swept in Columbia East last season (April 20 - 22).
- The Tigers have fared well against SEC opponents ranked in the top-25, notching a 7-7 record against such foes thus far in 2019.
- Mizzou most recently beat UMKC in its final non-conference game of the regular season, run-ruling the 'Roos 8-0 in just six innings of work.
- With its win against UMKC, Mizzou now has 30 on the season, matching the win total from all of last season.
WILMES RARELY WHIFFS
- Sophomore OF Brooke Wilmes has been a consistent bat for the Tigers all season, but she is also one of the toughest players to strike out in the entire country.
- Wilmes is one of just 16 players in the country to average 35 or more at bats between strikeouts.
- Wilmes is the only SEC player in the top-20 in the category, and one of just three players playing in a power five conference to make that cut.
- Wilmes has had 156 at bats this season, and has only struck out five times all season.
STORMIN' NORMAN
- Redshirt Senior P Madi Norman was excellent in the circle against UMKC Wednesday night, going 5.0 IP, notching six strikeouts for the sixth time this season.
- Norman has notched 6+ Ks in four of her last six starts.
- With her win against the 'Roos, Norman now has 15 victories this season, the most since Cheyenne Baxter had 16 in 2017.
AN ELI-TE CLOSER
- Junior P Eli Daniel has become Coach Anderson's go-to closer since SEC play began.
- Daniel now has eight saves this season, the most ever by a Tiger pitcher in a single season.
- Daniel is one of just three pitchers in the nation with eight or more saves this season.
- Daniel earned her first saves this season in back-to-back fashion, helping Mizzou hold off Kentucky (March 24) and then preserving a one-run lead in the bottom of the seventh against Tennessee (March 31).
- Daniel has been just as effective in relief during midweek games, as she collected a save in game one against Wichita State (April 3) and another in game two against Illinois (April 9).
- Daniel picked up another road save against Ole Miss in Mizzou's lone win of the series, as she went 1.2 hitless innings against the Rebels to preserve a three-run lead.
- Daniel's most recent saves came against SEMO, as she worked perfect seventh innings in both games to earn saves No. 7 and No. 8.
WERT ALERT
- Sophomore 3B Kimberly Wert added another homer to her season tally during the Mizzou's weekend series against Mississippi State, and she now has 18 on the year. The program record of 20 was set by Amanda Renth in 2008.
- Wert is the only underclassman in program history to have 18 home runs in a single season.
- Wert is one of just 11 players in the country with 18 or more homers so far this season.
SCOUTING NO. 16 SOUTH CAROLINA
- South Carolina comes to Columbia as the No. 16 team in the country, sporting a 35-14 record.
- The Gamecocks are currently in 11th place in the conference with an 8-12 record, but are just a game and a half back of Mizzou.
- South Carolina is coming off a series loss to Georgia, as the Gamecocks won game one, 3-2, before dropping games two and three (4-6, 2-3).
- The Gamecock offense has three separate players in Kennedy Clark, Jana Johns and Mackenzie Boesel that are batting over .350 with at least 50 hits and 38 runs so far this season.
- The Gamecock 'pen is led by Cayla Drotar, who owns a solid 2.68 ERA over her 104.2 IP. She has gone 11-5 this season while notching 61 strikeouts.
