STORYLINES
- Mizzou Softball is set to play its first home games this season, welcoming No. 8 Georgia to Mizzou Softball Stadium this weekend for a three-game series.
- The Tigers will play on Friday at 3 p.m. CT, Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and close out with a Sunday matinee at 12 p.m. CT.
- The last time the Tigers played Georgia in Columbia, Mizzou was swept by then-No. 10 Georgia (April 8 – April 10, 2016).
- The Tigers had a tough opening weekend, dropping all three games at then-No.5 Alabama.
FRESHMAN FIREWORKS
- The Tigers' two leaders in batting average, DP Geana Torres and SS Jazmyn Rollin, are both freshmen.
- Rollin, who has a .531 avg., continues to bring juice to the Tiger lineup, showing more of her potential at the plate against the Tide.
- She went only 2-8 against the Tide, but blasted the team's only home run of the weekend in the first game against Alabama ace Montana Fouts.
- Rollin finished the weekend with three runs scored, one RBI and five total bases.
- Though she has only 32 at bats and her sample size is limited compared to other top hitters, Rollin is currently second in the SEC in batting average.
- Torres, who currently has a .429 avg. over her 18 starts, went 3-8 with two RBI and four total bases in three starts against Alabama.
- Torres was especially good in the series finale, going 2-4 while registering both of her RBI.
HATTI'S HIGH-LEVEL HITTING
- Sophomore C Hatti Moore has turned into another quality building block for Coach Anderson.
- Her defense has always been good, and it has kept up this season. Moore is currently tied for the lead in the SEC in throwdowns, picking off three runners.
- However, Moore's real improvement has come at the plate, where she has really come on.
- Moore has 16 hits so far this season, matching her total from all of last season.
- The 2019 version of Moore also has already surpassed her 2018 totals in runs scored (12 vs. 10), doubles (4 vs. 2), RBI (14 vs. 10) and stolen bases (3 vs. 1).
- Moore has also matched her home run total, hitting one this year while only sending one out all of last season.
SOPHOMORE SLUMP? NOPE
- The Tiger sophomore class has been the heart and soul of the team this season.
- Sophomore OF Brooke Wilmes has been arguably Anderson's steadiest bat in the lineup.
- Wilmes currently leads the team in hits (22) and runs (16). She is also the only player on the team with at least one double, one triple and one home run so far this season.
- Sophomore 3B Kimberly Wert has really helped the team with her power hitting, as she currently leads the squad in home runs (6).
- Wert also currently leads the team in RBI (17),total bases (41) and is second on the team in total hits (21).
- Sophomore CF Callie Martin has been excellent to start her second season in Columbia, playing in 18 games.
- Martin is currently top-3 on the squad in doubles ( 2nd - 6), RBI (T3- 14), and walks (2nd - 7)
- Sophomore P Cassie Gasper has settled in as the No. 2 pitcher in Anderson's bullpen this season. Gasper currently has a 2.90 ERA over 29.0 innings pitched.
- In her first career start at Mizzou, she shut out then-No. 12 Arizona State. She pitched another CG shutout against Villanova. Gasper also has the only save on the staff, striking out the final batter in the first Kansas game.
SCOUTING GEORGIA
- Georgia is currently 24-4 with 13 shut out wins already this season.
- However, Georgia is only 2-2 in its last four games. The Dawgs were able to handle Western Illinois twice, but fell to both Elon and North Carolina at home in the span of a week.
- Senior IF Alyssa DiCarlo is off to another fantastic start, sporting a .444 average with 35 RBI and a team-leading 14 home runs.
- Freshman IF Savana Sikes leads the team in RBIs with 36. In Georgia's last game against Western Illinois she notched a season-high six RBI, four of which came from her first-career grand slam. She is 21-73 at the plate with six home runs so far this season.
- Sophomore pitcher Lauren Mathis has been strong for the Bulldogs so far this season, leading the team with her 0.64 ERA over 32.2 innings pitched. She has notched 39 strikeouts.
- Junior IF Justice Milz has been tough in the field, tallying 104 put-outs in 105 chances with one assist and no errors.
