Slew of enhancements to facility set to improve gameday experience
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Hearnes Center, home of the Mizzou Gymnastics, Volleyball and Wrestling programs, recently completed an array of enhancements to its gameday atmosphere. Mizzou fans will notice a brand new, state of the art primary scoreboard, vomitory videoboards above each tunnel, and refurbished playing court.
The new playing surface was a result of Hearnes Center flooding this past September. The scoreboard and videoboards in the corner vomitories will be the facilities' first improvement in that area since 2001.
Corresponding with a new Daktronics contract with the construction of Mizzou Football's South Endzone project, the opportunity for an enhanced videoboard at the Hearnes Center arose. The new setup boasts a 16' x 9' 6mm center display, four 8' x 2' 10mm corner vomitory displays, and an updated 10mm courtside display table.
Mizzou fans will immediately notice the implementation of diamonds at each end of the court. Paying homage to the famous diamonds in the endzone at Faurot Field, the six-diamond "Mizzou" spelled out is a mainstay in the athletic department's successful "Show-Me" branding and campaign.
The Tigers' first official event with the renovations occurred on Feb. 1, 2019, as Gymnastics hosted No. 8 Alabama.
