Storylines

  • Mizzou and Tennessee meet for the 15th time in their program histories with the series locked at 7-7.
  • Tuesday will mark the fourth time Mizzou has faced a No. 1 team in the nation since joining the SEC and the first time since squaring off with No. 1 Kentucky twice in a three-week span in January of 2015. The Tigers have faced a No. 1-ranked team 21 times in program history.
  • Mizzou's last win over a team ranked No. 1 came on Feb. 4, 1997, when the Tigers downed No. 1 Kansas in double overtime. The Tigers have four wins in program history over a No. 1 team, including just one on the road.
  • Mizzou snapped a three-game losing skid with its win over Vanderbilt on Saturday as the Tigers captured their third consecutive victory in the series with the Commodores for the first time in program history. Mizzou has yet to lose four consecutive games during the Martin coaching era.
  • Senior Jordan Geist has now reached double figures 14 times in the last 17 games, averaging more than 15 points per game in that span. He has scored 20+ points in a game five times this season after notching 15+ just six times in his previous two seasons combined.
  • Mizzou has held opponents to 69 or fewer points 32 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 60.3 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 11-0.
  • Mizzou is attacking the glass this season. It has outrebounded its opponent 14 times in 20 games this season. Mizzou is limiting opponents to 32.8 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the SEC.
  • Mizzou leads the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 37.6 from beyond the arc. From 2012-17, Mizzou shot 32.4 percent from 3-point range. In the Martin era, Mizzou is shooting 38.4 percent from deep. The Tigers have made at least eight triples 14 times in 20 games and shot at least 35 percent from beyond the arc in 12 of 20 games.

Youth Movement

  • In its win over Vanderbilt, Mizzou's trio of freshmen - Xavier Pinson, Torrence Watson and Javon Pickett - combined to score 33 points, their highest output in a game this season.
  • In that victory over the Commodores, Mizzou's freshmen and sophomores accounted for 57 of Mizzou's 77 total points.
  • 68.9 percent of Mizzou's scoring this season has come from players who are slated to return in 2019-20, and that doesn't include transfer Dru Smith, who averaged 13.7 points per game as a sophomore at Evansville.
  • Pickett has started all 20 games during his rookie season. In addition to being Mizzou's defensive stopper, Pickett has reached double figures seven times this season. Mizzou is 4-3 in those games. Since Jan. 13, Pickett is averaging 10.0 points per game.
  • Watson has reached double figures in back-to-back games for the first time during league play after scoring 10 points at Auburn and 12 points vs. Vanderbilt (behind a career-high five FGs).
  • Pinson has earned his first two career starts in the Tigers' last two games. He's chipped in at least eight points in four consecutive games, including 11 points and four assists in a career-high 27 minutes at Auburn.

Tilmon In a Zone

  • Sophomore standout forward Jeremiah Tilmon  was named SEC Player of the Week on Dec. 24, his first career conference award and Mizzou's first since Kassius Robertson on Feb. 12 of last season.
  • Tilmon has scored 15+ points in three consecutive games for the first time in his career after totaling 19 points and eight rebounds vs. Vanderbilt. In those three outings, he is averaging 16.3 PPG and 6.3 RPG while shooting 64.3 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the free throw line.
  • He's also played 26+ minutes in six consecutive games for the first time in his career, fouling out just once in the span.
  • Tilmon is shooting a team-high 57.3 percent from the floor this season, which ranks third in the SEC. He's made 59 of his last 96 FG attempts (61.5 percent).
  • His career field goal percentage - 58.6 percent - ranks fourth all-time thus far in program history.
  • Tilmon's production is key to the Tigers' success. In Mizzou's 11 wins, Tilmon is averaging 12.9 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the field. In Mizzou's losses, he's putting up 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from the field.
  • He has scored in double figures 24 times in his career. Mizzou is 20-4 in those games, including 9-3 this season.
  • Tilmon has been dominant at home this season, reaching double figures in eight of 12 games thus far and posting three of his four double-doubles.
  • Per 40 minutes, Tilmon is averaging 17.3 points per game.
  • Since stepping foot on campus, Tilmon has yet to miss a game. He's started all 53 games in that span.
