Mitchell & Robinson Named Team Captains

University of Missouri men's basketball announced its team captains for the 2025-26 season on Thursday with Whitten Family Head Coach Dennis Gates naming senior Mark Mitchell and junior Anthony Robinson II to leadership positions.

An All-SEC selection as a junior from both the coaches and the media, Mitchell led Mizzou with 13.9 points during the 2024-25 campaign. He also ranked second with 4.7 rebounds, third with 64 assists, fifth with 32 steals and first with 25 blocks. Overall, he was one of just 14 players in the nation to total 450 points, 150 boards, 60 assists, 30 steals and 25 blocks last season.

The only underclassmen named to the 2024-25 SEC All-Defensive Team, Robinson ranked fourth on the Tigers with 9.0 points, while leading the team with 3.5 assists and 2.03 steals per game. He placed 12th in the SEC in assists and seventh with a 2.04 assist-to-turnover ratio, while placing second in the conference and 38th nationally in steals.

The duo helped key the Tigers to 22 wins during the 2024-25 season as Mizzou finished sixth in an SEC that sent a record 14 teams to the NCAA Tournament, posting three wins over schools ranked in the top five nationally for the first time since 1988-89.
