
No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling Downed by No. 14 Lehigh, 22-9

Lehigh wins final four bouts to pull away after a back-and-forth opening six
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling lost its final competition at the South Beach Duals to No. 14 Lehigh, 22-9, Monday afternoon (Dec. 30). The loss drops the Tigers to 5-4 on the year and they finish South Beach with a 2-2 record in dual competition. Mizzou and Lehigh split the first six contests and things were knotted at 9-9 headed into the final four bouts. But, Lehigh won the last four to pull away and earn the win.
The dual started as a back-and-forth affair. Lehigh won a pair of close decisions at 125 and 133 by a combined six points, and took a 6-0 dual lead into 141. No. 9 Grant Leeth then got Mizzou on the board with a 5-3 win over Ryan Pomrinca. Second-ranked Brock Mauller followed with a dominant 8-2 decision to complete a perfect personal day for the returning All-American. Those two wins helped Mizzou tie the dual, 6-6, after four bouts.
The two top-20 teams then traded bout wins at 157 and 165 pounds. No. 12 Jarrett Jacques was edged by No. 11 Josh Humphreys, 3-0, in a top-15 matchup before Peyton Mocco capped a perfect individual day with a huge 3-2 win over Brian Meyer to tie the dual at 9-9.
The ace in the hole for No. 14 Lehigh appeared in second-ranked Jordan Kutler at 174 pounds, and despite a spirited effort from Jeremiah Kent, he dropped a close 4-0 decision as Lehigh quickly regained the lead. At 184, with a chance to tie the dual, No. 22 Dylan Wisman was upended by Lehigh's Chris Weiler, 13-6, as Lehigh took a six-point edge into the final two bouts.
At 197, Wyatt Koelling dropped a major decision, 12-2, and at heavyweight, Jacob Bohlken fell in a 6-2 decision against Jordan Wood.

Mizzou will be back in action at home on Jan. 10 as it takes on Ohio at 6 p.m. inside the Hearnes Center for Military Appreciation Night.
