FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mizzou Track & Field scored in five events on the first day of competition at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday in Fayetteville, Ark. Mizzou's women's distance medley relay team posted the highest finish of the day with a third-place finish, while freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) finished fifth in the high jump for the men.
Mizzou had a pair of scorers in the women's shot put, as redshirt sophomore Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, Mo.) and redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) finished fifth and seventh, respectively. Freshman Suenomi Norinh (Zeeland, Mich.) also scored for the Tigers, as she finished eighth in the pentathlon.
TEAM RESULTS
Through five events in the women's team race, Mizzou sits tied in seventh place with 13 points. On the men's side, Mizzou sits in 11th place with four points after six events scored.
NOTABLE FINISHES
Mizzou's DMR team of redshirt sophomore Melissa Menghini (Fenton, Mo.), freshman Morgan O'Neal (Sylacauga, Ala.), junior Karina Liz (Aurora, Ill.) and freshman Tori Findley (Blue Springs, Mo.) posted a third place finish with a time of 11:30.71. The time netted Mizzou six points, and is the 10th-fastest time recorded in program history.
Making his SEC meet debut, Vilches finished fifth in the high jump and ninth in the long jump. The Tiger freshman produced a mark of 7.60m (24-11.25) in the long jump before transitioning over to the high jump where he cleared 2.22m (7-3.25) and scored four points for Mizzou.
In the women's shot put, Rivera recorded the sixth-best mark in school history with a throw of 16.10m (52-10) to place fifth, while Jacobs matched her personal record with a mark of 15.86m (52-.5) to place seventh. The duo netted six points for Mizzou.
Norinh scored a point for Mizzou in the pentathlon, as she moved into the No. 9 spot of the Mizzou top-ten list with an eighth place finish at 3,716 points.
In sprints events, sophomore Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) and reshirt freshman Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.) each set personal records. Clarke clocked a time of 47.23 in the 400m dash, while Ashford clocked a 21.34 in the 200m dash. Both times currently rank third on Mizzou's all-time performance list.
In the men's mile run, freshman Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) and junior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, U.K.) both qualified for the final in the men's mile run with times of 4:09.42 and 4:12.77, respectively.

Mizzou will continue with competition in Arkansas on Saturday. Multi-events will continue starting at 10:45 a.m. CT, with field events beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT followed by the finals in the track events starting at 3:00 p.m. CT.
