
Yuen Tied for Fifth, Mizzou in Ninth Through 36 Holes at SEC Championships

Yuen shot 1-under and moved up eight spots on the leaderboard
HOOVER, Ala. – Mizzou Women's Golf pressed on through Day Two of the SEC Women's Golf Championship in Hoover, Alabama. The Tigers currently sit in ninth after shooting 20-over par Thursday, but remain ahead of three other ranked teams.
The Tiger squad looks forward to the final day of stroke play Friday in hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals on Saturday. Mizzou needs to finish in the Top 8 to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Day Three will begin Friday at 8 a.m. CT with a final 18 holes of shotgun play at the Greystone Golf and Country Club.
"We did a really nice job of managing the front side of the golf course, and tomorrow we will be need to play the back nine with more confidence and discipline," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We are certainly right in the mix and we did not come close to playing to our potential. We can shake off this finish today, regroup and come out and compete at the highest level possible tomorrow."
Mizzou is two strokes ahead of 11th place, No. 43 Tennessee, and nine strokes ahead of 12th place, No. 37 Ole Miss. The Tigers had a minor setback Thursday, dropping three spots on the leaderboard as a team, but they sit just two strokes back of eighth place.
Sophomore Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) continued her outstanding play, posting 1-over through 36 holes. The Illinois native sit T-5th after moving up eight spots on the leaderboard Thursday with her 1 under-par second round. Yuen is currently ranked No. 94 in the country and is competing with other individuals ranked in the Top-10 and Top-20 for the title.
"Jess had a great day, wrapping up the round with a nice birdie-birdie finish to help our team move up a spot going into the final round," Priesmeyer said.
Further down the leaderboard, junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) shot 4-over for the day and currently sits T-23rd. She is 7-over through 36 holes and sits within reach of the Top-20 on the leaderboard.
Junior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) has remained consistent the last two rounds dropping only one spot to T-39th. Hendrickson was 5-over for the day.
