On Friday's successful home opener…
"It was great to be home and in front of our fans for the first time this season. Our ladies did a good job in getting two wins today and starting off the weekend right. Madi (Norman) worked quick and was real efficient in the circle versus Southeastern Louisiana. Eli (Daniel) then came out in relief against Drake in game two and gave us some quality innings. At the plate today, Brooke (Wilmes) and Amanda (Sanchez) continue to have great at bats and produce for us. It was nice to have Braxton (Burnside) and Kolby (Romaine) back in the lineup as well, as they give us even more depth."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Mizzou's 8-0 triumph in game one marked its third run-rule victory this year. It also stood as the team's third run-rule win over a five-game stretch.
- With a pair of wins tonight, Mizzou has now been victorious in eight of its past 10 contests.
- Sanchez continues to rake at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two doubles in today's doubleheader. Her perfect 3-for-3 outing against Drake marked the fifth three-hit game already this season.
- Sanchez, Wilmes and Regan Nash will all enter Saturday's doubleheader with a 10-plus game safely reached base streak. Sanchez leads the way, as she's reached base in 16 consecutive games.
- After missing the past seven games due to injury, Braxton Burnside returned to the lineup today and tallied a hit in each matchup. She enters Saturday's action with a team-leading eight-game hitting streak.
- Norman lowered her team-leading ERA to 2.26 with five scoreless frames against Southeastern Louisiana. The Tipton, Missouri, native earned the win over her effective outing, improving her overall record to 4-0.
- Jumping on top early has been critical for the young 2018 Tigers. They successfully accomplished that goal again in both games today and improved their record to 11-1 this season when scoring first.
