COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Tigers open their 2018 home schedule this weekend with the Mizzou Tournament at Mizzou Softball Stadium. Creighton, Drake and Southeast Louisiana will join Mizzou for the three-day tournament with 10 total games scheduled.
Mizzou will play each visiting team twice over its weekend, beginning with a doubleheader Friday against Southeast Louisiana and Drake. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT and 5:30 p.m. CT, respectively. The Tigers will meet Southeast Louisiana and Creighton on Saturday with back to back games set for 11:30 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT, respectively.
The Tigers close out their first homestand of the season with one final doubleheader Sunday versus Creighton and Drake. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CT and 3 p.m. CT, respectively. Friday and Sunday's Mizzou contests will air live on SEC Network + via WatchESPN.
Adult general admission and bleacher tickets are available for $8 while youth/senior tickets are $5 each. Reserved chair back seats behind home plate can be purchased for $10. Tiger Offense Impresses Again at Mary Nutter Classic
- The Tigers are coming off their second consecutive 4-2 weekend stretch after a solid showing at the Mary Nutter Classic (Feb. 22-25). Mizzou earned victories over BYU, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Bethune-Cookman, while dropping close matchups against nationally ranked Arizona and UCLA.
- Mizzou's offense showed up yet again last weekend in Cathedral City, California, collectively hitting .322 (49-for-152) with 36 runs scored, three doubles, six home runs and 31 RBIs.
- Individually, junior Amanda Sanchez and freshman Brooke Wilmes stole the show with a .556 and .533 batting average, respectively. Junior Regan Nash (.450), junior Rylee Pierce (.333) and freshman Kara Decker (.308) also turned-in strong performances at the plate over the team's four-day visit.
- In the circle, the Tigers' pitching staff continued their steady improvement with a collective 3.03 ERA. Sophomore Nalani Scates was spotless with 5.0 shutout frames, improving her scoreless streak to 10.1 innings.
- Offensively, Mizzou enters this weekend ranked top-5 in the Southeastern Conference in home runs (20 - second), hits (150 - tied for second), total bases (232 - second), average (.321 - fifth) and runs scored (98 - fifth).
- Nationally, the Tigers' 1.18 home runs per game ranks 20th in the NCAA, .407 OBP ranks 27th, .321 average ranks 29th, .496 SLG% ranks 30th and 5.76 runs per game ranks 40th.
Sanchez Continues to Mash at the Plate
- Sanchez has made an emphatic return to the Tiger lineup this season thus far after missing almost all of 2017 due to injury. Through 17 games played, the West Covina, California, native ranks third in the NCAA in hits (28), sixth in total bases (48), 16th in home runs (five) and 16th in average (.528).
- Additionally, Sanchez has produced an incredible 10 multi-hit games already this season, highlighted by four three-hit performances.
